You know them, and love them. If you want to talk Nintendo consoles/handhelds from the NES to Gamecube days, here is the perfect place. Virtual Boy welcome!

a related question is, have you ever bought a new release just b/c you expected it would become rare? i bought metroid prime trilogy b/c i thought it would become rare, but only b/c i wanted to play MP1 and 2 on wii, not b/c of the value. i'm thinking about getting mario all-stars on wii even though i have it on SNES, though, as a collector's item. although since it's been reprinted it doesn't seem too rare right now.

hmm I should go through my SNES, NES, and GB collection and see if I can unload anything for enough money to bother. I have Populous for the SNES, which is probably pretty rare, but not worth anything.

I don't have many rare ones. Probably not at all. I have a complete Banjo Tooie, and both Game & Watch Collections from Club Nintendo.

I have Pikmin 2 since I bought it Day 1, and I recently got Eternal Darkness for $25. Not sure how good of a deal Sonic & Knuckles is for $6, cartridge only, but considering it had that feature you could pop in Sonic 2 and 3 on Genesis for another two games included, not too bad.

Also, there are two guys I know at the flea market. One is willing to sell me Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes on GC for $60, and another guy wants to sell me Conker's Bad Fur Day for $75. Are both good deals? And how about Mario Party 1 for $45?

Metal Gear for GC is worth about $25. Conker for N64 is worth about $40. Mario Party for N64 is worth about $20. Theres no way I would buy any of those games for those prices they are all over priced. I guess it depends on how much you want them, but you can find all three much cheaper if you look around. I'd try a used game store or pawn shops or something.

Hmm, figures. Iunno, seems everytime I go thrift hunting there's not too much around. Would anyone know of any particular stores in Toronto outside of A&C games? They have a fine selection, it's just I wouldn't mind some variety when price checking. Though I did grab Freedom Fighters on GC for $20 and GoldenEye N64 for $25.

i'm guessing some of you don't already know about the site that tracks video game prices. you can find it here: http://videogames.pricecharting.com. it's pretty comprehensive and pretty essential.

Turns out the most expensive games I own are Zelda games, and they aren't expensive enough that I'd sell them.

Funny, not too long after I originally posted my friend showed me rarityguide.com, aha. Good though to have multiple sources to compare against, though I've noticed rarity guide only uses ebay for price comparisons, which explains the higher prices, though it does compare against brand new in box, boxed and used, and game only.

Huh, I'm surprised Yoshi Touch and Go is worth 15 bucks. Oh look at that, Shadow the Hedgehog for GCN is almost 10 bucks...wow. Whoa, Sonic Gems is at 17 bucks..Mega Man X Collection is 33 dollars!? Man, with that one blatant component-bug it has I didn't think it would be..

Well out of the games I could think of off the top of my head, it seems like Skies of Arcadia Legends is the most expensive at 39.56-used...surprised me, because I bought it at $25 used, and it came with the case AND instruction book. I wonder why it's really all that expensive now.. *shrug*

The most rare games I have are probably the three Japanese games I have, simply for being Japanese. The original-Gameboy version of Sailor Moon R that I randomly found in a bookstore/pawnshop one day, the Japanese version of Electroplankton that I stupidly bought because everyone was sure it was an awesome game when I really don't think it was, and the better of the three, Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan! that I like a lot.

I just found out my buddy at the flea market can prolly hook me up with MGS: The Twin Snakes on Gamecube for $20 in about a week's time. Considering everywhere else is $60-$70, I think I'm gonna make myself a sweet deal, aha

Go into semantics all you want; point being is either we find ourselves lucky we have a game that few can find, or we're SoL when we had a chance to buy the game when it was still in production.

My most expensive would be Chrono Trigger I think.
I could check my few Saturn games but they're probably not worth much. I have a lot of NES and SNES games but all pretty cheap I guess.

My Final Fantasy II-III-Chrono Trigger trio is probably the best I have.

Also, Metroid Prime Trilogy might get expensive over time...

I've read this: http://www.racketboy.com/retro/nintendo ... -nes-games
and my rarest game should be DuckTales 2 on NES (with box and manual).

I have a couple,

Earthbound W/ Player Guide (people are selling the BOX on ebay for $100!)
Knuckles Chaotix
Sonic CD (Sega CD version)
Virtual Wario Land

I had more, but with digital distribution I figured I should sell while they had value. Only a handful of games ever reach prices that make them really worth something. Though one can't put a price on sentimental value! :p

I have Earthbound, Super Mario RPG, and a few NES games with all the boxes and booklets.
The only really rare game I've ever owned was a reprint of the cartridge they used for the Nintendo World Championships many years ago but I sold that on ebay. I got quite a bit of money for that too.

I used to have Mega Man X3 for SNES but sold it and the other 2 X games once the MMX Collection came out for $100 on ebay. Now my rarest would have to be demo disc that came with the Toys R Us Gamecube Kiosk I just bought. I think it's Interactive demo disc 35??? Has Star Fox Assault, Pikmin 2 and Paper Mario 2 demos on it.
