I think one of the key features that Google+ has over facebook it the ability to follow people without needing them to friend you back. This make's it great for following celebrities similar to the way twitter is. And of course by choosing what circles you publish to you can decide you you want to see what.
It's also great for online communities. As I mentioned in my first post I have a decent sized Reddit circle (it currently sits at 168 witch is small in comparison to some). There are people I never would of friended on something like facebook (I've never had a facebook account by the way) but here I am interacting with them and enjoying it.

Honestly I believe that's one of the big reasons facebook won over myspace. Myspace just had so much clutter and without a unifying look it can be intimidating to lots of people.
