The Droid I'm Looking For

Postby Rock Lobster » 31 Jul 2011 21:48

Hey all,
My Verizon phone contract is about due for an upgrade, so I'm scouting out the most recent, best looking phones. I've heard nothing but praise for Droids, and I'm sure I want something with that OS. However, I'm not entirely sure which phone is for me. Do any of you guys have a Droid or know of one on the market that's particularly awesome? Please help.

The droid is not user friendly, but if you want one over IPhone then get Droid 2.

Yeah, I'm not looking for anything overly simplistic or user friendly, but something that's far more efficient if the time is taken to learn about it. That's why I'm uninterested in the iPhone.

All of HTC's Android phones are usually very good (I have the HTC EVO on Sprint).

I tend to avoid Motorola phones when I can.

the droid 2 is nice(i have one, and love it). but if you are getting a new phone right I'd get one with a '4g' radio. (which the droid 3 doesn't have and is lame.) The HTC thunderbolt looks nice.

Yeah, my friend has an HTC Thunderbolt and loves it. So far, that's my favorite, though I am interested in the Droid 2.

I thought this was going to be about Star Wars for some reason. Anyway, too bad you were not able to get a Droid sooner as Verizon has done away with their unlimited data plans. Like others have said the Droid 2 is a good option. My brother has a Droid X and that is a nice phone as well, but if it were me I would get one with a physical keyboard because touch screen keyboards are sometimes annoying.

Any reason you don't like the iPhone?

a)Yeah, that's what I was going for with the title.
b)Oh, that one has a physical keyboard? I'm more interested now, definitely prefer those.
c)I'm just not fond of apple in general. While they do have a wide variety of apps and supporters, I'm not too big on their simple, incredibly easy-to-use focus.

yea, the droid 2 is pretty cool. I love mine. if you don't have 4g in your area get a droid 3, it has a dedicated number row which is awesome.

If you're looking for hard to learn and complicated to use, you're looking in the right place. :P All kidding aside, my girlfriend just got the Droid incredible 2. She says it's battery life is absolutely horrendous. The notifications seem slick though, and the screen is large and very bright. I haven't had much use of it other than that though.

with my droid 2 I didn't find it to be hard to use at all. and the battery usually lasts me a solid 8 hours.

Just a quick FYI first. Droid is a term that verison uses for some of their phones that run the Android Operating System. "droid" is not an OS.

Now being canadian I'm not overly familier with verisons but I'd wait untill the next HTC dual core phone comes out.

I'm actually in the market for a new phone, as mine is several years old now, and kind of difficult to hear on.

I know the iPhones are the most popular, but I'm not always sold by "most popular" items.
The problem now, as even a few years back, I have is how many choices there are.
My wife and I are with AT&T, and have never had any issues with the service, as they have always had pretty good coverage wherever we have lived.

Are any of you with AT&T and perhaps would have a Droid phone(or maybe Blackberry) that you would recommend?
