Yeah...I suppose you have a point there. No further discussion is necessary. Time to go out and get OS/2. Although, the OS in the hackers is pretty keen also.

I don't know. I'm still partial to my first computer with Windows 3.1.

Macs are for either artsy people or little kids who don't really use computers much. I have never come across a program that I need that works better on a mac than a PC.

Plus, I don't think you have enough control over a mac as you have with a PC. If you are a serious computer person, it would seem that you should be on a pc.

i guess for all PCs' seriousness, that leaves enjoyable and fun experiences with computers for mac users. :-P

as for the rest of that diatribe, it sounds like someone needs to reacquaint themselves with a modern mac... the generalisations are both incorrect and tellingly close-minded.

well....where i work i use mac computers about about 46 hours a week. i only use my pc computer about 7 when i am at home...i know mac has it disabilities but i like how i can multiple major projects on the g5's their at the same time that when i would run it on the pc's we have they would be slowed down considerably..... so the point about people who don't use computers that much is false.. i do agree with the artsy thing. i am an artsy person and i do use macs a lot.

Okey I think it's time to get this topic going again. I recently (last sunday, november 4th) ordered a macbook 13,3'' core 2 duo santa rosa 2.2ghz 120gb 1 gb ram. And Apple store say it will arrive 20-21 of november. I'm soooo excited :D

Anyway I checked some prices, just for fun, and found out that a similar computer (size weight and batterylife and specs) from Dell would cost me 5000 NOK more. Now the macbook was priced at ca 10 000 NOK and the dell at ca 15 000 NOK.

How can one say that the dell is a better offer?

PC for me. I love my games. I love the setup. Setup on a mac makes me feel stupid. Also random load times on macs are just frustrating. Happens ever few minutes or so when I use a mac. No real cause either, just happens.

I read up on it recently, apparently it is just one line of mac desktops running a duel core intel chipset and it has some problems. Thats just what I have been hearing and seeing anyway. Could be something else.

Macs all the way for me (making this a 50-50 vote, actually)

I have used Macs ever since I was small, and will continue to use them. I understand PCs very well, so that is no issue for when I'm older. For me it's the simple fact that they work. I can boot up, and I'll be quickly browsing the web. No hindrances or anything getting in my way, just simple. The price margin between Macs and PCs is closing though and Macs are becoming more popular. This means the "security" of my Mac will be compromised eventually. OS X is not much more safe than say, Vista it's just that no one wants to make viruses for it because of our small market share.

That is all.

Hmm...I have been arguing the opposite point. I think that, if everyone says macs can't get viruses, won't that make people want to make them harder? Like a race to see who makes one first.

I don't think marketshare has anything to do with it.

Actually there are viruses for Macs floating around but they're rare. And I think alainmeyer1 means that there are so few Macs on the market whats the point. ^_^ it's so much more fun to write ones for Microsoft OSs.

I could of sworn I'd voted and posted in this before but I guess not. Anyway I'm a Mac Guy, Always have been. My dad is a Mac guy (rest of the family not so much) so it's what I grew up with. I'm still very good at useing PC's I just prefer the usability of a MAC.

Okey, I switched to mac during the end of november, and now when I use a pc with windows, I kid not, I have a hard time figuring out how you do stuff. I'm so used with the greatness of exposé that things go really slow on a pc instead of a mac :P

Yes...I realized that I kicked myself when I said that macs don't have viruses. How stupid of me. Sure they exist...but compared to all the windows viruses, there is basically none.

@Bjorna- OMG yes!! In networking class (running vista) I fool myself every day because I think that I can trigger expose' with moving my cursor to the bottom-left of the screen. This is EXTREMELY helpful on my mac, and I can't see how the 3D window view thing in vista actually helps. You can see one window at a time, and parts of the rest. It takes less time if you just find it in the start bar...

Personally I don't see much in arguing over which is better. They both have some great fatures. PCs just work better for the things I use a computer for.

What do you use your computer for? I mean, there really isn't anything you can do on a PC that you can't with a Mac. I know gaming is limited, however, with the newer Intel/ATI chipsets, that should change within a few years.

I do a lot of graphic work, and although I can easily do everything on my PC, I find things easier on the Macs at school. I have more room, and things seem to flow a lot better. I plan on getting a new computer and although I thought about getting a Mac i think I just may get a ridiculous PC. It would mostly be for games and my graphics work.. so a PC would do I guess.

I'm an art student, so I totally agree with this. The school computers use Mac, so compatibility is key. If I were more into gaming, I would probably go with PC since it has the most support for games, but I don't really play a lot of computer games. The Mac is really nice and simple in terms of interface, and it does feel a bit smoother than Windows. I've always been a Windows user until about a few years ago, and I'm glad I've gotten to use Mac.
