reaction to 3D effect?

Postby geozeldadude » 19 Aug 2011 10:53

so i've had my 3DS for a little more than a week. haven't played any games for it yet (still waiting for good ones to come out) but i've gotten used to the 3D effect. not sure how much it's going to add to actual games, but anyway. one thing about the 3D, though, is that people look really flat and 2D to me. i often see the space between the foreground and background, but oftentimes it looks like the people are on two flat planes. with objects i can see them clearly as being in 3D, though. is it just me? i may still be getting used to the effect.

also, the pop-out effect doesn't work so great for me, and when it's used a lot it really gives me a headache unless i hold my 3DS really far away. like the mario kart 3D trailer is really hard to watch b/c it's all moving so fast and the car is usually popped out and it's hard to watch. is it just me?

last thing: when i first got it i noticed these stray black pixels that looked like they were embedded in the screen, but when i changed the angle they disappeared. haven't checked that in a while, but did anyone else notice anything like that?

I've had same feeling from pop-out effects when the screen is too close to my face. It can sometimes hurt my eyes a bit when something looks like its really close and out of the screen at the same time when your not even trying to look at it, but I think it actually depends how well the 3d is done that can correct that issue. I normally just have 3d slightly on to give the layers effect and thats enough to enjoy without needing to be perfectly still or lose the 3d effects by limping one hand more than the other for example.

I still think when you adjust the 3d slider its not changing 'how much' 3d there is, its just adjusting how much the 2 images spread apart to your eyes so if you theoretically are putting it on 'full blast' you are basically going cross eyed without realizing it lol

Well, if all you're watching are those trailers and videos, than yeah, it's not so great. The first couple of months I had mine I was very disappointed in the 3D. Super Street Fighter also is just layers like the videos, but you really must see Legend of Zelda. When I got the game I decided to see what Nintendo could do and I was pleasantly surprised! So If you want good 3D, I'd get LoZ or wait for another Nintendo game to come out. Also, just wondering, has anyone else seen the 3D youtube videos where you cross your eyes to see the effect? There was a Mario Galaxy 2 one and although cool, I really appreciate the 3DS's 3D alot more now.

When I got it, I was instantly like "holy..." yeah. It's pretty cool. I amuse my family with 3D photos, which are also pretty sweet. I thought it would pop out but it's like a little world inside the system. Unfortunately, haven't gotten any games yet... I basically use it as a spare Netflix for when my iPad loses battery, ha.

I was pretty shocked at how well the 3D was. The pop out effects don't seem to make me sick, so that's a good thing, and I think as time passes by, we"ll get games with amazing 3D effects.

When I first saw the 3D effect, I was absolutely amazed, and I still am. 2D gaming feels bland now that I've seen 3D.
