You could go to a Gamestop and hopefully find a used copy for $70. I was lucky to buy one at launch and a clearanced copy, that I still have sealed. Truth be told, I'd buy a Nintendo Selects version as well. I love the cover of them.

I'm holding out hope for Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn, Mario Party 8 and Wario Ware Smooth Moves still. I know the latter was released in Europe already, but I think it'll be put out here this fall.

Fire Emblem probably won't happen, sadly, I think it didn't sell quite enough to be considered...I could be wrong, but yeah.

Neither did Other M, but a lot of people are expecting it to happen.

I don't think this Player's Choice will be very lucrative. I mean, if I want the game, I want the original. I know it's not true for a lot of people, but I don't know.

What's the difference other than the box art? If you want the original box art, search for a hi-res scan online, print it, and you'll have saved some money.

Yeah, the box art shouldn't be that big of a deal. And I personally think the Nintendo Selects version is sexier. (And more limited as less people will buy it compared to the original when it launched!)

Brawl needs to be a select title.

I do like my games just to have their box art and the Selects have box art so no problem there. they're cheaper and I'm planning to try games I might not have tried if they weren't $20. Getting Strikers when it becomes a select title and later Super Paper Mario & maybe Punch Out. I too hope for Fire Emblem to become a select title.

The sides of the boxes are near-identical, so there's not really a problem on the shelf.

I just went to purchase one of the select titles today. And sadly, no.

Just bought Animal Crossing. I figured for $20... why not? After not playing any Animal Crossing game for a long time, i'm really enjoying it. Plus, the Club Nintendo points brought me up to platinum status

I just ordered Super Paper Mario from Amazon. I've been considering buying a used copy for a while, but this way I got it cheaper, as well as new. :)

(original copies were going for $30 easily on Ebay before, not so much now, though)

Alright, so Mario Power Tennis and NPC Pikmin 2 will be coming out June 10th for $20. Rumor is Brawl and DKCR will also become Selects then, but for $30 instead of $20.

So...as someone who's never played Pikmin before, I'm thinking of picking up NPC Pikmin 2 when it comes out. Would I be missing anything by going that route, or should I maybe get the original first?

Okay, Brawl and DKCR are coming down to $30, but aren't becoming Select Titles.

Not really, since Pikmin 2 summarizes everything that happened in the first game in the opening cinematic, but both games are worth playing.

Mario Power Tennis was also released before as New Play Control. Which other NPC game is next to be released as Nintendo Selects, maybe Donkey Kong Jungle Beat? :P
Anyway, it's great that we have some Wii games with lower prices, especially now that the Wii has not so many new games as the years before.

DKJB would be nice. So would MPT.

However, the latter of which might come as an HD remake instead.

I'm just glad we're finally getting NPC! Pikmin 2, and when they're released, I'm gonna get both NPC!s and Donkey Kong Country Returns (although the latter isn't a NS)

I'm not really expecting them to happen, but I want these as Nintendo Selects:
*Endless Ocean
*Battalion Wars 2
*Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree
*Wario Land: Shake It!
*Metroid Prime: Trilogy
*Excite Truck
*Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn
*Donkey Kong: Barrel Blast (not as good as other racers, but still a fun game, I regret selling my copy)

Wario Ware got a release in Europe as a NS title, so I expect that one in NA soon enough.

In the next batch (if there is one) I would probably want
-WarioWare Smooth Moves
-Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn
-Excitebots Trick Racing
-Wario Land Shake It
-NPC Chibi Robo (in my dreams)

As someone else already mentioned, no you wouldn't be missing much story wise. The first game was pretty minimal on narrative, with most of it coming from Olimar's journal entries at the end of each day. They were nice to read, but it's hardly an "epic quest" type of story like recent Zeldas. I'd still recommend getting a copy of the NPC! version if you can, it's well worth playing.

Anyway, it's about time Pikmin 2 hit NA. My guess is that they ran into some trouble regarding copyrights since the game uses different real life products from region to region, and the US is notoriously strict about copyright laws. This could also be a somewhat clever marketing strategy to get the public more aware of the Pikmin name just in time for the official unveiling of Pikmin 3 at E3 this year, and the possibility that it'll be a Wii U launch title.

Great news that it's only $20, since used Gamecube copies sell for ridiculously high prices. Will try and put down a pre-order ASAP.

Thanks for the advice, guys! I think I'll go ahead and pick up both down the line. Together they'll probably cost no more than 50 bucks anyway, so why not get both? This way I can have the entire series in my collection when the Wii U hits!

...Maybe. 8D

Pretty excited about NPC Pikmin 2. I never finished the original because... long story short: GameCube crapped out, bought a new one, moved shortly after & lost Pikmin 2 in the process. And re-buying it was pretty much impossible. So this is great news for me.

Now, on to Operation ____fall; a petition and/or Kickstarter for a Pikmin HD Collection...

He was talking about games being added to Nintendo Selects, not New Play Control!.
