Has the Fall Media Summit been announced?

Postby The_Dude1212 » 19 Sep 2011 09:38

I recall reading somewhere that the event tends to take place between the last week of September and the first week of October, but you'd figure that they'd want to give some sort of advance announcement so people can actually attend.

I know it's really not much for gamers, but they did announce Punch-Out the one year, and do throw around a couple game titles.

I know for me and a lot of other Op. Rainfallers (what do we call ourselves, raindrops?) this is the last chance before we say screw it and end up modding to import the games. I'd rather Nintendo would announce it cause I'm lazy, but I will do what I have to do to eventually to get a good game.

Never a good indicator of a console's health when fans end up saying things like this. I know the Wii U is only a year away but Nintendo are dropping Wii support a little prematurely I think. Especially for a company without the level of third party support of its competitors.

Anyway I've googled for news of the summit this autumn but I can't find any info whatsoever. Was that one where they announced the circle pad attachment not it? As in they just re-scheduled it for an earlier date in response to the 3DS situation?

They usually give some announcement, and yeah it usually happens shortly after TGS - I presume to compensate for not attending it. So yeah, sorry I'm not sure.

Yeah, it's a right shame. At the same time, it's hard to have sympathy when you suffer the fiery rage of a thousand suns for being denied not one but three games, lol.

I only assumed that it wasn't their Fall Summit because it was titled to be a 3DS conference, and I thought the FMS was for North America. I certainly hope it wasn't their fall summit. Not even the exclusivity of Monster Hunter 3G and MH4 will be stopping me.

i asked at my 4 swords/SM 3D land demo last week if there was going to be any american events soon/this fall, and the answer was no... or at least nothing planned.

either way, aside from skyward sword, it's clear their focus is entirely on 3ds, and anything else is more or less dead, especially now that kirby mass attack is out for DS. once skyward sword hits, they will probably never mention the wii again...in america anyway.

Make sense really. Nintendo made all the money they could with the Wii. Now the 3DS needs attention followed by them setting their sights on the WiiU launch.

But they'll have to mention Wii again...every time they say Wii U. It's right there in the title.

They still have Kirby's Return to Dreamland as well.

i think dreamland is before skyward sword, so yeah, like i said, once zelda hits, don't be surprised if we never hear from NOA about the wii ever again.

I doubt that is true. I still personally think we'll wind up seeing The Last Story in NA next year. The Wii U is likely not to even come out till NEXT fall, not anytime soon. Then there's Dragon Quest X, which has already been announced for Wii, and they want it to succeed in NA, so it'll come out here (both them AND Square want it to do well in the West). Considering DQIX is the best selling iteration of the series, I'd say that bodes well for it's release in NA on Wii.

I still wouldn't even entirely give up hope on Xenoblade in NA. Yeah, we should have had it by now, but Reggie did say they were basically seeing how it would sell in EU first, and so far, it's sounded like it's done pretty well. And honestly, if I'm right about Wii U not seeing release til late next year, I kind of doubt that Nintendo won't release ANYTHING for basically almost a full year on Wii.

Since Dragon Quest X is an MMO, I'm going to guess it'll be released worldwide at the same time.

Anyway, on the basis that no there hasn't been a Fall Media Summit announced - and that there's already threads about Op Rainfall, DQ X and the state of the Wii, I'm locking this thread.
