I wouldn't be opposed if the Zelda team gave Retro Studios a chance at Zelda...Maybe Wii U Zelda? =O

I'd like to see them take on F-Zero or make a new classic styled Metroid on the 3DS. That would be righteous.

Whatever Retro does, I just pray that it isn't another Metroid. The Metroids they've made were fantastic, but I want to see them work on something else, and I don't want to see Metroid cemented into the FPS genre forever.

I think a western studio take on the jrpg genre could be right up their wheel house.

Also, Devil, you forget the sexy beast that is Grant Kirkhope. Seriously, his music was a prime contributor to what made Rare games great. He's at Big Huge Games now. Unfortunately, they haven't done much.

I'd love to see a new Star Tropics. I just wouldn't want to see it all "hardcored" up. Meaning, making Mike a bad ass who weilds some bladed disc or something instead of a yo-yo. I would not want to see a "Serious" Star Tropics. If they could do it in the STYLE and feel of the originals, I'd love it.

And yes, the SNES Rare games had fantastic music, especially.

new startropics is right behind eternal darkness trilogy (made with the same care and quality of the original, so not by the current SK) on my list of things I want to come out but probably never will.

It's nice to see StarTropics getting some love. I thought I was the only one who cared about those games.

What WOULD you want Retro making next?

Postby TooManyToasters » 25 Jan 2012 17:09

MP4? DKCR2? Zelda HD? F-Zero HD? For me anything's fine. Just don't say they're quitting considering their job openings.

Any one [or two] of these titles would do for me:-

-3D Donkey Kong [like the N64 one].
-Eternal Darkness [if Silicon Knights don't make a new one].
-Star Fox [maybe with open world ground based missions].
-3D Wario [like Wario World].
-2D/2.5D/3D Yoshi.
-One of Nintendo's racing games [Waverace, F-Zero, Excite Bike [like the 3D N64 one], 1080, Stunt Race FX.
-Metroid [expand/improve on the Other M style of gameplay].
-Bring back one Nintendo's older IP's such as Mach Rider, Ice Climber.
-New IP [Raven Blade].

I see that most voted for a new IP, problem with that is new IP's can be a hard sell, especially in this economic climate, thus they can be a huge gamble that may pay or off, or may not.

Now THIS I wouldn't mind from Retro. :)

Hell! Even including those damn Goomba-wannabe Tikis is fine with me :P as long as I get a new Donkey Kong 3D game like the one on the N64.

Eh that was like my least favorite Donkey Kong game of all time. >.> If they could make the levels a 2D/3D mix like Mario Galaxy or 3D Land in addition to the standard hub that'll be much better than the Banjo-knockoff stuff in that game.

Also I forgot to add, that maybe they could do a sequel to Diddy Kong Racing [the adventure + racing gameplay was a good hybrid of ideas IMO, plus the water and air based vehicles gave the gameplay more variety].

I'd love to see a Starfox Assault styled game made by Retro, but with a few improvements:
- improved controls. really, the controls in assault were terrible.
- improved camera. not much better than the controls.
- online multiplayer and leaderboards. yes, that would be awesome.

Or just have Retro make up a new I.P. just like Rare did with Banjo back in the day.

I think Star Fox is done, tbh. Well, at retail anyway. Taking Star Fox to Action-Adventure just isn't Star Fox. I know they're trying to make the games longer, but Star Fox would be better served as a downloadable game series. $10-$15, Star Fox 64 style, 18 planets, 3 routes, medals/challenges for every level. 1 hour to beat, 15+ to do everything. That's really how it should be.
Mega Man 9 isn't hard, you're just not paying attention

I feel this way tbh as well. Imo starfox would be a great vehicle for episodic content. Throw a little over the top narrative in there, bam, it's a 30/40s style sci-fi serial.

"HOW CAN FOX SURVIVE AGAINST THE MONSTERS FROM BEYOND NEPTUNE?!"

you get the idea.

New Classic Metroid. Oh please Nintendo, Super Metroid might be my favorite game of all time! Don't let classic Metroid die out... we need one after Other M..
