DS wifi setting transfer to 3DS (GBA slot)

Postby Naked Age » 22 Apr 2011 11:58

Hi, I was wondering. I know you can transfer wifi data from the original DS to the 3DS. But I want to experience the rumble pack or Pokemon pal park on my original DS. I will play all these DS games on wifi with 3DS except Pokemon Diamond. I be strictly using Pokemon Diamond only for Pal park and all other games that use rumble pack in single player only.

If I transfer the wifi data to my 3DS, will it screw up my games if I play it on original DS and save? What happen when I connect my Pokemon Diamond on my original DS to wifi after transfer to the 3DS?

Thanks!
I love Majora's Mask. I love Wind Waker. I LOVE MY AVATAR! THANK!

Got a new Wii. All my friend codes are different now.

I'm pretty sure that if you transfer the wifi data over to the 3DS you will not be able to play it on the original DS. This is because Nintendo treats the game and the system as a pair. So, if you tried playing it on your original DS again it would give you a new friend code for the game. As long as you don't connect to wifi on the DS and only do that with the 3DS you should be fine; again, because it is one system per game card. You should still be able to play and save on the DS though.

You can move wifi data between DS systems through Download Play though.

On the 3DS you'd select download play and then on the DS you'd go in game, then to WFC settings, then to something that says Transfer or something like that, then go.

I'm also quite sure you can transfer them back since they use the same technology.

Okay, thank you for clearing it up. I feel comfortable with it and decide to transfer to my 3DS. And I forget that you can transfer back and forth. XD
I keep that idea in my mind. :)

Wait to transfer DSiWare

Postby pummy84 » 07 Jun 2011 01:41

Can't believe my first post is this

Anyway, do not, I repeat, DO NOT try to transfer any DSiWare for your DSi to your 3DS tonight. I was in the process of moving Dr. Mario Express when an error occurred, and now not only is it not on my DSi, or my 3DS for that matter, it doesn't appear on my paid list on the DSi Shop.

Edit: So, if this has happened to you, look the game up on the E-Shop on the 3DS. You'll be able to redownload there for free. Least there is a happy ending here.

yes, it's not news.. we've posted the story a couple times on the blog already. the only way to get the game again on your dsi is to buy it again.

SD Card Help

Postby Steel Diver » 22 Dec 2011 00:02

I need some help getting a new sd card for my 3DS. Right now Ihave a 4gb card and still have 19000 blocks left. I dowload a lot of games and plan on downloadin more and am wondering if I should get an 8 or 16 gb sd card. Also will a class 2 card make downloading games on the eShop slow? Thanks for the help

Honestly, I suggest waiting until the card is getting closer to being filled before you get another. That's still a decent amount of space. Wait till you're closer to filling it up so that you can have a better idea of how your downloading habits are and the rate of which you download stuff (to help formulate an idea of what SD card you'll need upgrading to)

Now I have no idea about class 2 and whatnot so hopefully someone who does know will comment and let you know. Good luck.

a class 2 card is rated at 2MB(as in byte) per second. that's about as fast as a 16Mbit internet connection(not exact because they measure MB as million instead of 2^20bytes).

and I can pretty much bet dollars to donuts that the eshop browser can't download that fast anyway. you should be good.

Thanks. So would you say 12 bucks for a 16 gb sd card is a good deal? I would like to future proof my 3DS and never run out of space. In the first q of 2012 I want to download Kirby's Block Ball, Sakura Samurai: Art of the Sword, Jett Rocket Super Surf, Zen Pinball 3D, Dillon's Rolling Western and probably other games. So would it be a good deal? My 3DS is my primary gaming system so yea.

3DS to 3DS transfer?

Postby Nintendorking » 03 Jan 2012 14:15

When I move my account from one 3DS to another - will I have to have all my shop purchases downloaded or does it move my shop history?

Meaning will I have to have all the things I bought downloaded at the time of transfer to get it on the new 3DS?

You will have everything. I transferred my stuff over...it puts the games on your SD card and at the end it will tell you when to switch SD cards on the systems. Transferring literally makes your new system have everything your old system had from games to streetpass (and if you were an ambassador your ambassador status is moved to the new system.)

oh yea. the entire eshop will probably never fill 8GB.

If demos goes live this spring, you can bet it will fill it up.

eshop content not withstanding, plenty of games now create 20-30 MB 'additional data' usually allowing for extensive replays to be saved, ghost data for racers, and other stuff. Those add up.

I got to about 3/4 full on my 2GB card and switched over to a 16GB class 10 card. in time for Mighty Switch Force and Swap Note.

Oh yeah, you also have apps like Swap note where the extra data starts small and grows bigger as the content saved grows.

I don't count demos. I'd still be very surprised if more than 8GB of original content ends up on the eshop.

I ended up getting an 8 gb sd card. Now I have 50,000 free blocks. I'll upgrade it if the need arises but I should be good.

Sd card transfer help - 2g to a larger one

Postby MermaidKelly » 21 Jan 2012 00:14

I've been looking online on how to move your 3ds data from the SD card that came with the system, to a larger one for more storage space...but I'm still confused. First of all, what size is good? I was thinking 8g, but would a larger one be better? Other tan size, is there a difference between regular SD and SDHC cards?

Many sites including Nintendo Tech support say put the sd in your computer, copy the files, eject the sd/put the new one in, and move the files to the new card. That's fine and dandy, but I'm not very computer savvy. When they say "copy" the files, do they mean "right click, find copy"? and "right click find paste" when you get the new sd? Or is there a specific program like Microsoft word that you need to copy the files to? Thank you in advance.

When you put the card in it should pop up a list of options. There should be an option to open a folder to view files, select that. If not, go to My computer and click on the SDcard (probably under devices with removable storage). Then when you have both of them open just select all of the files from the old card and drag them over to the new memory card.

Thank you for the detailed description. My computer only has one sd slot, so I don't think I could just drag from one to the other.

In that case, can't you just drop your current SD-card's content into a temp-folder on your computer(like on the desktop or something where you can easily find it), switch in the new card, and drag the contents of the folder(not the folder itself) onto the new card? That's what I'd do anyway... almost everyone has only one SD card slot unless you bought an extra external card reader at one point in time..

Just a side question about this...when copying to another SD Card, it will not delete your save data, correct? I just don't want to lose my game progress when I upgrade my SD Card...

Yea, this troubleshooting is what I am worried about! I don't want to screw up all my data!

Also, for those who have a bigger SD already, what size do you have? I was thinking on buying an 8g or a 16g...

Well, I own an 8 GB, and I'm already running out of space there because I use it as an mp3 player (If I had to guess, around 60% of the SD card is music).

Unless you download a lot of stuff, I would stop at 8 GB. From what I've heard, 8 blocks = 1 MB, and with 8 GB = 8192 MB, an 8 GB SD card would give you around 65,536 blocks. That is a LOT of memory for just games and photos and such. You should be set for awhile (again, depends on what/how much you download).

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to look for a 16 GB card so I can stuff more music into it.
