Epic: Ocean Marketing berates customer, sets internet aflame

Can you believe it? Hardcore gamer Dave wants to know more about why a product he preordered was delayed, and what he got was an enraged "Paul the PR Guy" from what was Ocean Marketing and a pretty hilarious and epic story that involves Mike (Gabe) from Penny Arcade and Joel from Kotaku. You have GOT TO check them out.

gabe and mike are the same person.

I saw gabe put this up on his twitter when he made the first post about it, and the next day it had gotten so much traction that geico was making jokes about it. I never seen something move that quick through the 'nets so fast.

This is great... Such a clusterf*** I can't even feel sorry for the people making the controller. People should be careful to not let their company be represented by guys who are complete jerks.

I can. he was just an art teacher who made a great thing for disabled gamers, getting it made and out to the people who needed it were beyond his depth. so he got taken in by smucks. it happens.

I have mixed feelings about them. Though I appreciate them giving the guy a second chance, it was a risk that shouldn't have been taken, and now it's back to bite them.

This Paul guy really shouldn't have been hired as a PR guy anywhere, ever. I know he has hardly anything to do with the company that sells the controllers so they should be left out of this whole mess. However, I would personally never hire anyone that was less than professional near my products or my company. I really have a hard time sympathizing with whoever hired this goon.

They could have dragged any bum off the street that could read and write English, sit him down at a computer, pay him half a sandwich an hour and get a better service than this Paul guy offered. The whole point of a PR person is having someone to strap to the bow of your company to brave the waves of angry, unsatisfied customers with an unflinching smile, responding only with the most professional reassurance and apologies when necessary. Paul's behaviour was the exact antithesis of this. If there is anything this fellow is worthy of, it most definitely isn't the title of "PR Guy."
