PSP:Is it worth it?

Postby darkfire » 04 Jan 2008 17:46

Recently, I've been thinking about buying a PSP because there are quite a few games that have captured my attention. I have always like the Ratchet and Clank games, and I also like the Jak and Daxter series. The Dracula Chronicles X game looks great, but one game made me actually want to buy a PSP. The new Kingdom Hearts game, Birth by Sleep, looks awsome, and it has turned into a system seller for me. So what do you guys think? Please post your game collection if you have one, I want to know what games are good.

Yes get one, I got a silver slim to replace my old one and it sweet. Its the ultimate media machine in the palm of your hand. The new slim has TV out which is very cool. And its great for Podcasts which you can subscribe to via RSS. The games are getting better as well, now's a great time to hop on board!

i own a psp but i do not like or play it much. it takes a long time to load, you need to buy extra memory storage, you can't connect to the internet at mcdonalds with it, the battery only lasts for three hours or so, and it costs like 200 dollars. but it does have better graphics than the ds. There aren't many games i like for the playstation systems anyway.

well, if you reall want those games, then its worth for YOU.

i'd only want it for loco roco and ghost in the shell (which i know people say its crap, but i'd buy it anyway, just because it sais "ghost in the shell" xD )
for me, its not worth buying for 2 games.

Here's some tips on when you're debating on getting on getting a system:
1) See if there are atleast 5 games you'd actually buy
2) See if there are purchases your going to make in the time you think it'll take to save up for it.
3)Think about how realistic it is of you saving up for it

After these tips, than make an answer

Well technically McDonalds requires you to pay for their internet access (to actually get online you have to go though a third party company who's name escapes me at the moment)

If you want a portable PS then go for it.

I can't say for you and your gaming style, but myself two of my next highly anticipated games are Wild ARMs XF & FF7: Crisis Core. I purchased Final Fantasy Tactics and enjoyed the re-release (plus its extras) and also Metal Gear Portable Ops.

One of the things I really enjoy about the PSP, is that it has some very good compilation games that you can take on the go with you (Sega Genesis Collection, Capcom Classics Remixed/Reloaded, EA Replay)

You can get alot of bang for your buck on some of those games. Dracula X is great for the Symphony of the Night on the go all on its own.

Find out your preference in genre and playtime, and what you would like and make your choice after that.

Me? I love it! Don't worry though, I bought my DS first!
Praise the Lord and pass the ammo!

I bought a PSP from my friend for 60 bucks and I really didn't play it that much. But then, I got into the hacking scene and you can do so much more stuff with the PSP when you are doing that kind of stuff. Even if you didn't do any hacking, there are a ton of great games coming out for it like Crisis Core and Patapon.

I'd say it was worth every penny, just so even for Monster Hunter Freedom 2 alone (the reason I got mine)

Games that kept me hooked;
MHF2
Lego Star Wars II
GTA:Vice City Stories
MGS: Portable Ops
Ridge Racer

Even more added value if you factor in the ability to hack the little sucker to death, which opens up a whole world of homebrew applications, emulation and customization.

(I'm currently playing through Earthbound courtesy of SNES9XTYL)

nothing against Sony or the PSP but i just dont like the system. The thing i love about my DS is that fact that i can just turn it on for 10-15 mins and then go about doing something else. While with the PSP... i feel that you need to spend more time playing with it in order to have any real fun. And i would rather be playing wii or ps3 or xbox 360 if thats the case.

I own two PSP's, one is mine, and the other I gave it to my father, he loves to play F1 =P

I have 11 games, most of them in still beggining, or never even played, I only play Tekken ;_;
I can only play Metroid Prime Hunter DS online on sundays afternoon (from 3 PM to let's say 7 PM), if you'd like to battle with me let me know.
