Everyone excited? played through the demo already? It comes out on march 4th this year! (so in about 2 weeks!)

Yeah I just downloaded the demo and yeah it's freaking amazing. This was the first time I had ever played a God of War game and the most amazing part was it felt like I was playing a PS2 game the whole time. This is definitely a future purchase for me.

Also, this was a great example of how to make a good demo. It had a good length and it was full of non-stop action. I must have played through it 8 times and I still want more. And the limited edition GOW PSP bundle is sweet!

It doesn't matter if they are different companies. Brawl is gonna be huge. Do you think someone is gonna buy a almost forever lasting Wii game or a short PSP game that you will eventually get bored of?

Wii is a console game, whereas GoW is on a portable platformer. Also they are two different genres of games. Not that big of a risk to launch a title the same month as Brawl.

You can't assume everyone will get bored of GoW just because you'll get bored of it after the original 5 hours of gameplay the first time around. A different replay value, if you will.

i think what he's getting at here--and not to put words in anyone's mouth--is that GoW and brawl are both titles for the hardcore gamer, and as such, these people will play one game or the other in that manner. for any company to compete with different titles to the same audience must be done carefully. yes they're different platforms, genres, and methods (home vs portable), but still... gamers can only be in one place at the same time, and therein lies the conflict.

considering wii has the larger install base, and smash bros hits a wider audience for appeal with its genre and franchise, GoW needs to either differentiate itself to the hardcore gamer, or play to that audience in a way that makes these gamers think they can AND want to have both at the same time. just my two cents

Yes, they both aim to get the hardcore gamer demographic, but they aren't necessarily going after the same type of hardcore gamer.

The hardcore demographic Brawl will attract is the one with gamers who will play the game 24 hours nonstop. GoW, however, goes for that "I want decapitation with tons of blood gushing out" demographic. There certainly are exceptions, but there's no denying that these two demographics exist.

You also have the Nintendo fanboys and haters, as well as the Sony fanboys and haters, all of which certainly exist, as well.

Both have their fan bases (from GoW 1+ 2, and 64smash + melee) so I guess we'll really have to see how it comes. Im certainly buying GoW before brawl (if not at the same time)

I'm waiting for God of War: Chains of Olympus to come to the PS2. Sorry, but that's just how I feel. And I don't think it can be argued that it isn't happening.
