Considering some developers can't hit 720p and/or 30 fps this generation, I suggest you focus your anger elsewhere. Why? Because it's going to continue. A lot of developers don't want to make games anymore. They want to make movies at $60 a piece. 24 fps is fine for them because it's 'what you get in the movies.'

to be fair, this generation is using hardware much inferior to a r770. and much less memory.

My point is that developers show no signs of changing their tunes to make a high, locked framerate the standard. Developers would rather push the shiny than good control.

Even if the Wii U can do 60 fps, third party developers will still bad mouth Nintendo anyway.

May be so. I only have a 720P TV so will that even let me see 60FPS if it's a 1080 title?

Framerates don't exactly work like that. Developers usually plan around a framerate/resolution when making games.

only if the developers are as good as random no name pc developers from 30 years ago.

ie, if the system detects it is at a lower resolution than target, than more resources can be devoted to frame rate. You know, when you need to upgrade but cant afford it, run at a lower res than your display to get a playable frame rate.

or, the gpu will keep rendering at 1080p and let the tv downscale it. which ever.

I'm just not going to worry. I'm not getting a 1080 TV for some time. Maybe next year around Black Friday.

Same here, although my love for the smaller plasma in the bedroom has me dreaming of a large plasma in the living room. I really, really enjoy the picture on that television. The old DLP that we currently have in the living room looks a bit too washed-out.. not very crisp.

But then again, plasmas gulp kilowatts, and we're aiming to go solar in the next year or so. hmm. :?:

I have a 19" 720P TV I got on black Friday this year. Just decided to get it and didn't realize it was 720 till I got it. It's a long story. Anyways, I'm looking for a 40" but I did see a 39" for less than $300. Wonder if all these 3D and smart TV's will drive the price of regular 1080P TV's down. how long till I can see a 1080P, 40" TV for $200?

yea, I think they will drive down the price of regular displays. and good, I don't need a 3d or smart tv. I have my ps3 for the apps :)

That's great. no interest in 3d or smart TV's. Just want a regular 1080P about 40".

I'll get Wii U on Day 1 IF Nintendo has a game or two I want on Day 1. If Assassin's Creed 3 comes to it, I will buy it for Wii U; same goes for Resident Evil 6. Not COD though, since I hate COD.

MORE INFO FROM THE INFO GODS!
- Wii U will support patching from Day 1, like PS3 where all updates can be installed at once (360 version stores updates to your cache, and is constantly recycled)

So it will be like install data on PS3? Games I'm looking forward too are Batman Arkham City (Just played AA on PS3), Tekken (Might not be a launch title), WWE '13 (Feel it might be a launch). I'm planning to play Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4 to see if i like Lego games for if Lego City Stories comes. If enough people i know get a shooter then I will too.

Patching games will be similar, basically. Instead of 5mb files, expect like 50-150mb files.

well those installs on PS3 sometimes take 1GB or more. So if patching takes less space like what you said, that would be awesome.

I haven't heard anything, and I'd guess no until Nintendo puts retail games on the Wii U Shop. I don't know how fast the disc drive is, though. I'd say at least a 2, which would mean it's a lot better than what PS3 has, and near what 360 has, if not on par.

They said Retail games will come to Wii U and 3DS eventually. I imagine at that point they'll allow you to run games off of an external HDD, if you've got it.

Also, I heard a bit of an...interesting tip a couple of weeks ago that I can now dreadfully dance around.

when I say retail I mean games you bought in a store on a disc. and by install I mean not having to have the disc in to play it.
