Nintendo Home Console Announcement/Launchs?

I've been searching online for the last 1 1/2 hours looking for solid console history on the N64, GameCube, and Wii. Can someone please tell me the month and year from when Nintendo announced said consoles? Not the technology used in them, the actual dates of when they first used the given name. (ex: the GameCube was announced on X/XX/XXXX). I'm trying to predict the Wii U's launch, and just need the dates, thanks in advance for the info given. Ciao! -Toa

U.S Launch dates

NES: October 18th, 1985
SNES: August 23rd, 1991
N64: September 29th, 1996
GC: November 18th, 2001
Wii: November 19th, 2006

I would say Wii U comes out between August and November of this year based on this. Also it will last 5-6 years before the next one.

As good a guess as any. They definitely seemed to have lined up the Wii U for a release sometime the end of 2012/2013. If they can I'm sure they'd want to be gunning for the 'must have Christmas gift'.

More info with announcements, the N64 was Spring 1994 and the Gamecube was announced in August 2000.

NES-->Revives the industry
SNES-->Graphics boost
N64-->3D models
Gamecube-->Graphics boost
Wii-->Motion Controls
Wii U-->...HD

Now, based on N64 and Gamecube, N64 was launch 2 years after its announcement, and Gamecube took one year. Wii as I recall was seen at two E3s prior to launching. By this logic, it should be obvious that Wii U will almost likely launch this year.

Now, as for the North American launch dates, October, August, September, November, November.

Launches in the latter half of the year, but still before the holidays. They prefer the middle of the month (September 29th is an outlier, afaict). The NES and SNES launched on Fridays. The N64, GC and Wii launched on Sundays. Third full week of the month, occasionally fourth.

I pin the launch date at one of two guesses: Sunday, October 21st, 2012, or Friday October 26th, 2012.

August 27th or September 17th, 2012. It's gonna land on one of those two dates (both Mondays). This is my guess at a street date, not release date. Release, obviously, would be on the Sunday falling before each of these days.

There's no way Nintendo's launching this console in November so close to Black Friday shopping season. Gotta have time to let it savor and sink in among all the media outlets and core gamers/Nintendo loyalists that will buy it first. Then let everyone else go nuts with it come November.

That's the proper way to do it.
