GoNintendo 'End of Day' thought - Did you buy a Circle Pad Pro?Click Here to View StoryAwfully busy today, and there wasn't even that much coming from GDC. Glad this day is over. I'm really in need of some shut-eye! See you all in a few, short hours.
Ah, it seems like it was just yesterday when we heard rumors of an add-on for the 3DS that would provide a second circle pad. That kind of talk seemed so silly this early on in the 3DS' lifespan. Then...the device actually showed up in an issue of Famitsu. The rumors were true, and the reaction was not good.
3DS owners were not happy that an accessory like this was being launched so soon after the 3DS itself hit shelves. It seems like a misstep on Nintendo's part. Why not just include a second circle pad on the 3DS to begin with? What sense does another accessory like this make within the first year of the system? How could Nintendo not add this circle pad to the system when developers were clearly interested?
While the rage burned quite hot for awhile there, things eventually calmed down. The device isn't necessary for any games out there (thus far), but it was an option for those that had some extra scratch and a desire to go dual circle pad with the games that support it. Not a necessary item, but a helpful addition for those interested in that style of play.
The Circle Pad has been available worldwide for a few weeks now. According to the reaction at GameStop, the device has been a success so far. Initial shipments sold out much faster than anticipated, and now we wait for the next batch to come in. Did you end up buying the device? Were you once a hater but have now changed your opinion? Are you still just as enraged as you were when the Circle Pad Pro was announced?
