Kid Icarus: Uprising

Whats better then one screen? Well two screens of course! Current-gen portables inside: DS, Lite, DSi, DSXL, 3DS...

The funny thing is, this game doesn't have me super-hyped. While I played Kid Icarus when I was a kid, it's hardly my fondest of memories. I never tried the Game Boy iteration. Heck, I didn't even pick Pit all that much in Smash Bros. Brawl (could never control him correctly, for some reason).

I'm approaching this game almost as a business decision. Nintendo's giving us a game that has a lot of care and commitment (tons, even), AR cards (and the potential for more), a stand that can be used for Uprising (or something that plays like it, like Dillon's Rolling Western), optional Circle Pad Pro compatability, promotional anime movies on Nintendo Video, and a free 3D classic game for those who pre-ordered.

How could one not at least entertain the idea of purchasing it?

It's going to be a lot of fun, at least that I'm sure of.

From the Kid Icarus: Uprising website "Check back on this site soon for info about special Nintendo events where you can trade, share, and obtain new cards."

So it seems you won't be stuck with just 6 Idol Cards.

Edit: http://kidicarus.nintendo.com/uprising/ ... cards.html
Turns out there a lot of ways to get more cards

Does anyone know if you will be able to play the multiplayer by yourself offline like in Star Fox 64 3D? (YES I know that did not have online multiplayer) I ask this because I would much rather play this by myself then depend on other people, that is why I like the ghost data in MK7.

There should be Kid Icarus savings time where we all move the clock forward 12 days so we can buy this game already!

I'm ready.

Apparently Club Nintendo Europe is giving away 2 6-card packs for people who pre-register the game early enough. Although I don't know if Club Nintendo NA will do the same (I doubt it).

how are we supposed to know what the 3 exclusive cards are? When I read the info on the website and press release it sounded like it was just going to be the series 1 pack with 10 random cards

it does? because when I read it,it only made mention of "various conventions" getting the series 1 booster pack that every other event has received and nothing else. The other information about the magazine promos is correct and the Nintendo world store in NYC is also getting 1 card

I believe the Conventions were Pax, Pax East and two others. I'm sure it'll be expanded. It'd be nice if they gave those out at the Zelda Concert for a cross-promotion.

The other 2 conventions were Wondercon, and San Diego Comic Con.

Does anyone know if subscribers to Nintendo Power will actually get the Kid Icarus cards? Subscribers usually get screwed out of any of the stuff that comes with Nintendo Power, like posters or Wiimote stickers and stuff.

Let me put it this way.

Yes,I don't know if you subscribe to any magazine but the way viz media's "shonen jump" had things set up if you subscribed you would get a one year subscription and 2 Yu-Gi-Oh! cards and whatever additional item that was included, in shonen jump's case Yu-Gi-Oh cards. On your other point I would call customer service about that because every time NP runs a promotion I get my items and if I don't they normally replace it.

Now on to the newsstand copy worse case anybody will run into is some jerk off ripped open the magazine and steals the cards, which is the exact same problem shonen jump newsstand copies had.

This game wasn't on my radar until very recently. I watched some videos from the eShop and was blown away. The one video had Pit flying over a country side and I couldn't believe how great it looked. I pre-ordered that very day. Can't wait to get it.

Oh and BTW I've also ordered my cards! :)

Been tearing through the game since I got it last two nights ago. I love the air battles and havent enjoyed this type of on rails shmup since Starfox 64. Land battles sadly are a differnet story. Im still messing with the sensetivity on the touch pad that allows pit to look up/down or left/right but things definetly arent as smooth as id like them to be. It'll take some getting used to and there is a learning curve to it, but all the enemy varieties, weapon choices, item power ups and crazily good multiplayer mayhem makes this game a must have in my book. Thats not to mention the fun ar card battles. Hell just collecting the cards has been a blast for me and reminds me of my MtG days. :3 Speaking of which is this the thread where we can post the cards we obtained so far, or is there another thread for that?

Amazon just sent me my code for 3D classics:Kid Icarus. I'm kinda worried about that game from what i've heard it sounds pretty hard,I think someone said harder then the original Legend of Zelda [I suck at NES games but I do okay on SNES].Hopefully it can hold my attention better then excitebike.
