TMNT reboot movie

Postby Jack_Atlas » 20 Mar 2012 08:28

I hate Micheal Bay with a passion now.....

Spoiler:

Apparently the teenage mutant ninja turtles are now going to be aliens in the new movie and have the entire story ripped apart. Can anyone say terrible game tie-in?

I also hate Michael Bay. Why are they doing this? The turtles formed by ooze and their not aliens. Can't believe this. Probably will be a tie in game.
I loved, i lost, and i saw boobies. what more can a man ask for?
This is the last time I'm going to tell you! Get out of here right now Gohan!

The ooze is of alien origin,it was created by the Utroms which was in the original comic books and touched upon in the 2003 series. Micheal Bay on the other hand wants to say the four turtles come from another planet like the Fugitoid or like the transformers.

The problem a lot of people is having with this is the TMNT were originally pet shop turtles turned into mutant crime fighters by an Alien ooze in some versions of the story [in others it was either shredder in the 87 cartoon or an accident as it was stated in TMNT 2 secret of the ooze movie] but to completely change the origin story would cause a lot of problems, such as the turtle's relationship with Splinter, their names and if their aliens why would they need to know ninjitsu when they could use a gun? Also who would teach them?

I mean in the end it could be a good action movie but taking away what made the characters, is just not a movie worth dropping $7.00 for.

We could but let me put it this way.Would you go see the next Superman movie if the directer took away most of his iconic powers and pretty much said "yeah he's an average person living on Earth that can fly and has no relations to alien beings" he wouldn't be Superman anymore he would be some guy wearing a goofy costume, who can fly then.

Be prepared because I think it will be in the end especially if Micheal Bay and his fanboys on his forum have their way.

so at least one of the transformers movies wasn't unbearable, but they still totally demolished the transformers i loved as a child.

i see no reason why this michael bay 'interpretation' will be any different with respect to the turtles. i agree with broly. this must be stopped. i don't even want production to reach trailer stage; that just means it's far enough along that its direction is both inevitable and unchangeable.

Well Bay had nothing to do with the last TMNT movie. This sounds like a complete abortion, particularly since they have no interest in what the source material is.

How many more times are they going to reboot them?,
-The Live-action series which was a Power Rangers clone.
-The 2003 animated series wasn't that great.
-The 2007 movie was nothing special.
-The 2012 animated series, I have no comment for that, because I've never seen it,
-Now this movie which sounds even worse, lol.

I wasn't calling you one I stumbled upon Micheal Bay's official forum where he told every TMNT fan to "chill the hell out" as some headlines read but anyhow on the forum one guy flat out said TMNT fans should be happy we are even getting a 100 million dollar movie and if it kept the original story it would bomb at the box office.

I was thinking of posting a link when I had said that but I thought it would have caused a s***storm on here.

It's amazing how one man can ruin so many things. If he is going to make terrible movies why don't he just come up with his own ideas instead of ruining something that was once awesome? I was pretty excited about a new live action Turtles movie, then I heard it was Michael Bay and my expectations bottomed out, now this. It makes me wonder if it will even be better than Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III. Help, I'm a Turtle and I can't get up!

I have heard a lot of different versions TANT,TAINT is the one some people hate the most but on one website some people were joking around that he pitched a Teenage extraterrestrial ninja turtles[TENT] movie to Viacom and they went with it.

MasterofMonster wrote:^ Eh, sorry then, Atlas. ^^" I missunderstood~

Not a problem, one thing you have to understand is TMNT fans do get pretty angry over it and I think it's justifiable just like when super Mario fans get mad over the Mario bros. movie.

If they are the Mario Brothers, that kind of has to be their last name.

Anyway, as awful as it was at least that movie has a couple individual parts that manage to be not-entirely-terrible on some levels, which is more than can be said for anything Michael Bay has touched since '98. His lack of concern with cartoon/comic book source material in this project is going to be slightly less noisome than his lack of concern for virtually every conceivable aspect of film-making.

Agreed. To this day I can't watch either of the Transformer movies because of the horrible quick cuts and badly framed shots. It's impossible to keep a handle on what is ACTUALLY happening once the action scenes begin.

So yeah, I'm more concerned about his lack of (in my opinion) skill as a director in general, rather than his flagrant disregard for the source material.

Actually this TMNT reboot is not Bay's fault. Work already began on the reboot by Nickelodeon and Paramount Pictures when Bay was eventually signed on to direct. Of course Bay is gonna stick up for the reboot. Nickelodeon and Paramount are paying him and it's either do as they want or get fired.

As people may not know (or care), TMNT is now owned by Nickelodeon and they are looking to change some things about TMNT in the upcoming third animated series. Some changes include Donatello using a naginata instead of a bo and Michelangelo using kusarigamas instead of nunchuks.

So this time Bay shouldn't get all the rage. Just part of it for even agreeing to the reboot in the first place and how he eventually directs the reboot. I can picture massive explosions when the Turtles just strike Shredder during the fight scenes with them.

Sorry, but anyone expecting this new Turtles movie to be any good, with or WITHOUT Bay's involvement, was being kind of silly. Hollywood doesn't seem to know how to do good adaptations of things anymore. And inevitably, remakes, reboots, etc., rarely ever turn out well, and CERTAINLY not better than the originals.

So you know, just do yourself a favor and skip it. We've got the original film. We've got II (which was okay, not great). And the original cartoon and comics. I mean.....there ya go. They're always there for us to enjoy. So no need to torture yourselves over horrifically bad new crap.

They've pretty much s*** on over half the things I loved as a little kid anyway, already. Scooby Doo, Yogi Bear, The Smurfs, The Chipmunks, Garfield, Care Bears, you name it. Crapped on. And what do I do about it? Simply don't bother watching. The reason this garbage keeps on getting made, is because people go out and pay their money to watch it, IE supporting it, which makes these movies make money, which causes studios to want to make MORE. So.....just don't watch = don't support. It's pretty simple.

From what I've heard the movie's antagonist will be Krang and honestly that could be a pretty good movie because the 87 cartoon was good but the alien angle is going to destroy way to many story development points [why would an alien need sai when he can use a blaster?] The best way to do this movie is skip the origin because IGN [worst place I know] said it best the turtles have already been established in other media so focus on telling the movies stand alone story. But unfortunately Micheal Bay is stupid and going to weigh the entire movie down with a horrible origin story that will give transformers a run for it's money.

You can't take the "mutant" and "turtles" out of "Teenage MUTANT Ninja TURTLES". This is not "Teenage Ninja Aliens". So, what, instead of TMNT, we have...uh...TNA?

I mean, I love TNA as much as the next guy, but...no.
