Kid Icarus: Uprising

Whats better then one screen? Well two screens of course! Current-gen portables inside: DS, Lite, DSi, DSXL, 3DS...

Okay, I have played up to the fourth level and I already hate the controls,I have never in my life had so much trouble on an easy mode because the system it was designed for was so tiny. The game is excellent but the 3DS needs to be bigger and i'm curious has anyone tried the AR mode out yet, out of my 6 cards I can only get one to appear and I don't know how I even did that.

Just chiming in to say I've got my copy, and I just wanted to say THANK YOU to Nintendo for being one of the last companies to have packaging that's a genuine good time to unbox. The art on the inside is finally state side, and as opposed to being greeted with an online pass and things of that nature, I've got extra cards and the stand. I also got the download for 3D classics KI for pre-ordering.

Just about to begin playing, but it's a great thing when I'm actually enjoying myself with the packaging. Here's hoping the controls don't ruin it for me!

The problem with the controls is that the game expects you to look at both screens AT THE SAME GODDAMN TIME... This could easily be one of the worst nintendo game control wise.

I certainly agree with everyone that the controls could have been better (OH, AND BY THE WAY: You don't have to look at both screens. You can put the subtitles on the top screen while playing. But if you want to look at everything else down there, like the anime, then you'll have to look at both...), but this game has made me laugh more than any other game that I've played. And that's saying something.

The online is almost perfect, though. I would like more game modes to try out, but all of the weapons and unlockables make up for it. Plus the Vault is pretty nice.

picked it up and have already clocked in over an hour! the story mode is a blast but oh my gods is multiplayer fun! i hopped in not knowing what i was doing, got schooled by many names containing katakana but within 4 rounds i made it to 3 place and on the 5th snuck in to 1st. its fast and frenetic! the controls arent nearly as much of a sticking point as everyone made it out to be. sure i was using a laptop lap desk in conjunction with the stand, but even without those i was doing fine. there are even more unlockables, achievements and collectibles than there were in brawl! the dialogue is fun and regardless of what people say about it making the game into something it shouldnt be, go back and play the original! it was weird. it was quirky. and it had fun in making no sense. big nosed groucho glasses zooming around the room? a wizard made of an eggplant who turns you into one of the same? a grim reaper that freaks out and sends flying baby grim reapers at you? yeah, it didnt take itself too seriously. the game is gorgeous and the sound design top notch. as long as you except the game for everything it is and nothing its not you will have zero to complain about!

I don't know why people complain about randomness. Personally, I love it. It's really funny and it's what makes games like Rhythm Heaven and Animal Crossing and cartoons like Adventure Time so special.

I'm waiting for my copy to get here. I barely pre-ordered the game on monday because I got my allowance for the month on friday. I was trying to pre-order saturday and sunday, but my brother was busy and couldn't use his debit card to purchase it on Amazon. I thought it should have been here by now since it said it would arrive between 3-5 business days. Long story short....I am dissapoint.

P.S My Club Nintendo KI:U AR cards have not arrived either. It's been more than a week. Has anybody else received them?

Yes they are bad. I wish they could have found a way to incorporate the CPP for the camera, not just as a option for lefties.

All in all, though, Intensity 7 kicked my ass on the first level. Guess I need to get stronger weapons. I was able to complete it above Intensity 5, though.

STILL that isn't going to keep me away from this game.

The controls for this game in a nutshell. The only ones that work for me is the

circle pad [sometimes, I can't dodge for crap]
L button [ the firing button, if this didn't work I would be in trouble]

The targeting system is so pointless and mixed in with the terrible camera I can't even use it in ground battles.
The air is better because it's a fixed camera but I have had so much trouble with the targeting system and the stylus, probably because I'm a lefty [but i'm not actually trying to write out English words so that's kind of a silly argument] and have had my hands cramp up a few times playing.

I would recommend messing with the control options. It can make the camera controls....somewhat bearable.

i know its all subjective.. but ive found the targeting system to be more intuitive than dual sticks.. im far better at aiming in this game than i am in revelations. its so fast paced moving sticks would be too sluggish.

oh, and on a side note. ive played 4 hours now, and no cramping! yay

I don't know, I think the default controls actually work best. If you switch to d-pad controls you have to take your finger off the circle pad to aim. If you switch to button controls you have to take your hand off the buttons to use the touch screen. I'm not sure if they let you use the circle pad pro for camera if it would be much better either. The problem is you have to do 3 things at once, run, control camera, and control reticule to aim. No matter what you have to stop one of those things to do something else. I'm just sticking with the touch screen since it combines aiming and camera into one allowing you to pretty much do everything at once. After a couple hours I'm getting better at it, eventually I should be able to master it. It seems like a really cool game so I'm willing to practice and get better. On the plus side because of the controls you can leave the 3DS plugged in charging while you play and the cord doesn't really get in the way. I think tomorrow I will dig out my old thumb strap thing from my original DS and try that out.

The problem I feel is the land sections. During those sections the game should either have a fixed camera or lock the reticle in the center so all you're doing is controlling the camera. Otherwise, I feel the controls are good. However, I don't think I'm alone in saying 'This should be a Wii game due to the controls.'

I'm through Chapter 5, and I haven't had any cramping yet. I feel like I should just stick with my current difficulty for now as the game is getting progressively tougher.

What difficulty are you playing on? I'm playing on 2.0 through all stages until I fill confident enough to go higher. When I had stopped playing to go lay down because I am what country folk call a night owl, I had unlocked chapter 13.

Multiplayer forced me to to get a grasp of the ground controls pretty quickly... and now the game is more enjoyable/ insanely awesome.

It sucks that people are going to miss out on this game because of the control scheme. i think Sakurai/Nintendo really need to reconsider their dual analog omission. The simple act of adding that as an option will get a decent number of people, who want to buy the game, on board.

That aside, this game really is amazing. Graphics, content (so. much. content.), music, etc. Sakurai delivered.

I beat Chapter 6 at 3.5 Intensity, and man, I got pushed to the limit there because I screwed up on a Mini Boss. From there I went and beat Chapter 1 at 5.0 Intensity, which was kind of tough with the extra area. I managed to get a Weapon with a value above 200, which was nice.

I'm hoping to get another Health Recovery Power, because right now just 3 is getting hard to live with.
