Super Mario 4 as well as Pokemon Animals and Super Samsh Bros Brawl confirmed.

It's just a domain, guys. Take it with a grain of salt. Companies do this all the time on the off-chance they do make a game like that and they don't want anybody else having it. Almost every Pokémon color imaginable links back to Nintendo.

Dear Nintendo,

if you are indeed making a Super Mario Bros. 4, please do the following:

Make it imaginative- no more of the same-old same-old mushroom kingdom that's been infecting recent Mario games and making them boring. Brings us some fresh new locales and enemies. (like how Mario 1, 2, 3, and World all have completely different visuals and locations and enemies).

Make it a 2D platformer. Enough said.

Make it 2D. Like, REALLY 2D. I want to see sprites. Take a look at the Epic Mickey 3DS game. Take a loot at Wayforward's work. Take a look at King of Fighters XII. Bring back the old spritey mario we know and love.

If SMW is Super Mario Bros. 4.. What does that make Yoshi's Island? Super Mario Bros. 5? Super Mario Bros. 4.5? And what about the sequel(s) to Yoshi's Island? o.o

Note that Super Mario World is only subtitled Super Mario Bros. 4 in Japan, and that Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island is only titled Yoshi's Island in Japan. If anything, it's really, really awkward and convoluted, and I don't think Nintendo's ever going to do something like using different numbers for the same game in today's age; that'd be really asinine.

All I can say is that there's a distinction between sequels and spin-offs. Although it's fair game to consider the first Wario Land game to be Super Mario Land 3, no one considers (nor should consider) Wario Land II and afterwards to be Super Mario Land 4, 5, and so on. It's like that.

The only one actually registered by the Big N, not just transferred, is nintendoallaccess.com, which is among the few registered on Nintendo.com (http://www.dailychanges.com/nintendo.com/2012-04-04/). That's the truly interesting one.

Yoshi's Island is just "Super Mario: Yoshi's Island" in Japan. It's technically not a "Super Mario Bros." games, so much as it was just Nintendo of America trying to sell the game by name association.

tl;dr - Yoshi's Island wasn't really a sequel to begin with.

Well to be fair, there was a Nintendo power magazine that ACKNOWLEDGED the Super Mario Bros. 4 part until the game's launch here. So it's not like it was unheard of outside Japan until the internet. Jus' sayin'.

World was Super Mario Bros. 4, period. That was the original title of the game, from all the way back when it was still being developed for the NES (look it up, there are beta pics). It is what it is. Yoshi's Island shouldn't have been called "Super Mario World 2". They just wanted to use that title to sell more copies, because Yoshi wasn't a proven commodity yet. Kind of like how the first Wario Land is called Super Mario Land 3, even though you do not play Mario in it, nor is Mario even really featured in the game.

What they need, is SMB5. Though to this gamer's mind, NSMBWii felt like the closest we're ever actually going to get to that.

Is that so? I can't say that I was aware of that, but okay.

Even then, I don't understand what difference that fact would ultimately make. Either way, we still have name inconsistencies on both sides of the world.

Quite right. LONG before the internet, when I was little kid, I remembered hearing about Super Mario Bros. 4. It wasn't just a subtitle. It was the official name of the game, they just renamed it in the west.

Intriguing. Perhaps Super Mario 4 refers to a major 3D Mario game engine rather than being "sequels"

Super Mario 1 being 64
Super Mario 2 being Sunshine
Super Mario 3 being the EAD Tokyo games = Galaxy 1/2 and 3D Land
Super Mario 4 being a whole new engine altogether.
