The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker - official concept art

I wonder what happens if Nintendo decided to put Adult Link in The Wind Waker...it could be pretty interesting.

I do prefer the traditional child Link, but it would have been interesting to see toon Adult Link... maybe not in the Wind Waker, but Phantom Hourglass.

It seems like Child Link has been banished to handhelds and toon games ever since the Wind Waker Backlash happened. (which is stupid because it was the style, not the age of Link people were mad about. I mean, come on. He was always a child before that.) I think it'd be interesting if they switched it up. Put Child Link back in the traditional console games, and try an adult Toon Link for the next handheld.

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker - official concept art

Is that CD-i Link?!? Anyways, nice to see of Wind Waker's concept art. I'm not surprised that there are so many drawings, considering how Nintendo was experimenting with a radically different art style.

@LegendofZelda1996
Here's what I can imagine...

SCENARIO ONE:
Hero of the Winds (upon seeing the Adult Link): WTF, are you the Hero of Time? If so, aren't you supposed to be, you know, dead? And why aren't you cel-shaded?

SCENARIO TWO:
Adult Hero of the Winds (with Tetra) discovers New Hyrule, and then lives an uneventful life not worth making a new Zelda game for a Nintendo platform.

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker - official concept art

I think this game maybe wouldn't have been as polarizing if they would've stuck with the design of Link up above, but I'm still happy with the choice they made regarding his design. It added a lot of charm to the game.

I love WW link, but I wasn't crazy about the way he looked in the first trailer, he looked like he was wearing make-up.

I might have liked that version of Link better than the final one. I don't mind Wind Waker's cell shading, but am not a big fan of the super-deformed character designs. I can take Link looking like a young man or older boy, but when a character that looks like a toddler is supposed to be saving the world, I think it's a bit silly.

It's funny because the model you posted is the same exact thing as the screenshot... You can tell because of the brown undershirt that was only ever present in Beta Material ( they should have kept it if you ask me )
It just looks funny in that screenshot because his mouth is open in a smile... he makes that same face several times in the Wind Waker.
