And they deserve it 100%. Paying for DLC already on your disc should be a crime.

I hope it keeps falling. Now we just need someone to bring the possibility of making on disc DLC illegal to US courts.

Having DLC on your disc, but knowing well in advance of buying the game that you're not getting that content with the initial purchase, is no crime. The distinction lies in knowing what you're paying for and getting exactly that.

All you people who bought Mega Man 9 for Wii technically bought "on-disc DLC". The DLC for that game was downloaded with the full game, and just unlocked as you paid for it.

Capcom sees their Better Business Bureau rating fall

So first the self-entitled whiners complain to the FTC about Mass Effect 3. Then the whiners complain that EA is the worst company in America. Now the whiners complain to the BBB about Capcom.

And people wonder why the gaming community gets no respect? :?

@ArchedThunder

And that ridiculous comment is the icing on the cake. If you don't like or agree with on-disc DLC then don't buy it. It's not that complicated.

Cancelling a game that's been begged for for over a solid decade after asking for fan input,
Accusing your fans for causing your own internal bullcrap,
Packing all promised tune-ups and fixes for your product into an "improved" version and charging them $40,
Charging extra money for disc-locked content,
Omitting requested features from your games after specifically asking fans what they wanted via official polls,
Mocking your fan base by pretending to have or even care about your "strong relationship" with them.

Yeah, they deserve this. They deserve this and far worse. Let's hope that rank goes down a few more notches so they can figure out they can't kick their customers after shoving them to the ground and expect no repercussions for doing it.

And guess what smart ass, I don't purchase on disc DLC. But I shouldn't be restricted from the full game's content just because I don't want throw money at the greedy. Locking a third of a game's content on disc and asking players to pay another $20 dollars just so you can actually have the full game is a horrible business practice.

Well I can't say they don't deserve it... Capcom is still one of my favorite game makers, but they do push the limits on trying to take advantage of exploiting DLC.

This isn't about "getting respect" or "people being self-entitled," it's about not being treated like money-throwing idiots who have to take everything regardless of quality. It's a serious issue because a lot of people feel legitimately ripped off by either false advertising and/or holding back disc content. People don't appreciate having to pay an extra $20 or $15 for stuff they already own. You don't see people paying to watch a movie and then have to pay extra just to see the 2nd half of it.

It's very complicated when they keep doing it to their games, completely in-the-know that people hate this. Not buying the content is apparently not doing anything to change their minds on the subject.

Capcom sees their Better Business Bureau rating fall

@Muigi

Well obviously plenty of people are purchasing the content.

When you purchase a game you are buying the game. You are not buying the additional content. And last time I checked, Capcom isn't charging you to play the "2nd half" of any game. They are charging for additional OPTIONAL content. Don't like it? Don't buy it. Why do you feel forced to buy DLC? I only purchase DLC when I feel it it worth my money. I don't just throw money at anything, nor do I ever feel forced to buy anything.

@ArchedThunder

The DLC is NOT part of the full game's content. It is ADDITIONAL content. The disc is just the storage medium. Just because the chose an on-disc storage medium vs. a HDD storage medium doesn't mean that you are automatically entitled to the additional content for free.

It's a shame what makes it as DLC, on or off disk. Extra characters in a fighting game (CAPCOM's SF x Tekken) or extra missions fundamental to story in RPGs (ME2 and ME3) should always be included for free. This is just a way for them to make more money -- make you pay for 'extra' stuff without them having to use the bandwith to get it to you.

CAPCOM's main defense is that once a game is finished, their devs have idle time. They go ahead and make the bonus DLC and put it locked on-disk, but why is it that we need DLC in the first place? They said the game was complete, didn't they? It's just a way for them to gouge you for extra money, duh.

Good. Because no matter how much spin some of the usual members of this site want to put on on disc DLC, it is a sleazy practice and one that deserves to tarnish the business reputation of a company who so blatantly practices it.

That's more of a gamer attitude, bend over and take whatever the companies want to give you and then mock anyone who complains. Gamers root for companies like they are sports teams lol

They have completed the content before the game has gone gold, they put it on the disc. They put the resources towards having lots of content finished before the game goes gold. If it is on the disc is should be made available at no extra charge. On the other hand actual DLC that you download is completely new content, not something the developer is trying to pass off as new.
