RUMOR - Capcom fan lies to pull info on Ace Attorney Investigations 2 localization progress

This is pretty damn despicable if true. Rumor has it that a Capcom fan lied to the company by telling him that he was from the Make-a-Wish Foundation, all to get a status update on the chances of Ace Attorney Investigations 2 being localized. Long story short, no news on the game.

I'm not sure I believe this story, but it would be a pretty horrible lie to make up. Actually, it would be better to know it's a lie than to think that someone would do this.

Full details here (thanks Brian!)

RUMOR - Capcom fan lies to pull info on Ace Attorney Investi

I doubt the Make-a-Wish kids actually handle their own requests personally, RMC. Someone from the foundation would most likely do it. Seems like a very unplausible rumor.

I kinda fail to see what's so horrible about it.
Even if the rumor is true, no one is truly damaged and it's not like it's a bad cause.

It's not like he pretended to be a sick kid.

But that's still stupid, and I'd be rude too if someone did something like that to me.

Having said that, this reminds me of The Office, when Michael Scott pretended to be David Wallace's daughter to get him to talk to him.

If this is true I think Sven knew what was up. The guy claims he was being sarcastic and kept trying to hang up the phone but I can completely understand that. Whether or not the Make-A-Wish foundation themselves handle the requests or not there is no guarantee Sven knew that hence he couldn't just blow him off.

But nevertheless that's not the point. If this IS true... Any "fan" who does that kind of stuff no longer deserves that kind of recognition because you are just a selfish, rotten brat! And you deserve more than what you got called on the original forum.

It's sneaky and underhanded, but I don't know about "despicable." It's not as though anyone got hurt, and it could have proven to be a clever way to get them to leak some info, had there been info to leak to begin with.

I don't know if it's true or not, either, but if it is, I have to say that I commend the person who did it. His originality is quite admirable.

He found out though didn't he? The end justifies the means. Shame he didn't ask about a western release of Monster Hunter Tri G while he was at it.

Capcom are such jackasses that their jackassery is spreading to the fan community.

Or maybe the osmosis has gone the other way. I dunno. At this point, I just want Godzilla to stomp all over their headquarters so that someone with some common sense can pick through the bones, take what's good (i.e. their IPs) and burn the rest (i.e. the morons who cancelled Megaman Legends 3, outsourced the next Devil May Cry to a development studio known for only for producing crap and denied us Ace Attorney Investigations 2).
In the event of a firestorm, the salad bar will remain open.

Wow, really guys?

I think what's even more disgusting and despicable are some of the comments in this post dismissing it as really no big deal. Like anything is fair game to get the answers that you seek. Nice to see the moral compass of the gaming community and this generation in general are ever eroding. Some of you guys really need to get some perspective and realize that not everything is up for violation all in the name of your own interests.

Anybody who would use a company who does great things for sick kids with bleak futures all in the name of self serving his own interests about a freaking video game of all things deserves at the very least to be considered despicable.

And people wonder why the gaming industry gets no respect and gamers are looked down upon as immature.

Just in the past month alone:

Mass Effect FTC entitlement complaint.

EA voted worst company in America (over company that helped cause this past recession and cost Americans trillions of dollars).

Capcom BBB entitlement complaint.

Fraudulent Make-A-Wish request.

Dude, people suck. But if the game industry suddenly became incredibly mature I doubt it would earn even one iota of respect. Misinformed people are the reason the industry is looked down on.

as bad as this is. I can't help but laugh. It reminds me of an episode of Seinfeld or something.

And, to be honest, Capcom kinda perpetrates this by treating their customers like crap.

This was a really ugly thing to do. I'm just glad he didn't choose to ask about Mega Man Legends. This kind of attention is the last thing we need.

He's obviously a troll, as it seems impossible that Sven would release information on the game to a guy who pretended to be a charity organization while none of the other fans who messaged him got a direct response. Also, his behaviour throughout the rest of the thread clearly shows that.

P.S.: On a side note, some other AA fans from Capcom-Unity have recently started another movement, similar to Operation Rainfall, to get the game localized. I know there is little chance this could work, but helping doesn't hurt and it is of great help. If you have a Capcom-Unity account and want AAI2 to be released in English, please join the following group: http://www.capcom-unity.com/operationobjection

I wish this was a lie but I have heard other ridiculous stories from a friend who used to work in customer service for activision. Anyways I really hope this was a joke but today's generation of gamers are insanely idiotic and full of fanboyism. Not all gamers mind you but I think we can agree that there is a big chunk of immature gamers out there today. Example? Just listen to what kids say these days during halo or COD online matches.

I realistically see no problem with this. Passing judgement on this guy for lying (OMG!!!!!!) seems a littler "holier than thou" to me. The view must be nice from up there in the ivory tower.

Better to actually have a moral view than to be so blindly naive.
