GoNintendo 'End of Day' thought - What to expect from Nintendo Direct?
Click Here to View Story

I'm definitely excited that another Nintendo Direct is taking place, but it's kind of putting a damper on the start of my weekend! Friday night is for relaxing, not for work! With that said, I'll be here to cover any/all info that comes out of these events. I hope to see you here! As for now, I'll need some rest! See you in a few, short hours.

Nintendo has once again decided to spring another Nintendo Direct event on us. These things have been coming fast and furious lately! As usual, we learn about the event just days before it happens. I had plans to check out a movie tonight, but it looks like I'll be tied to the computer once again!

I sure hope the event is worth watching, as I'm sure you guys do as well. We know for sure that both Japan and Europe are going to hold events, but we have no idea what they'll be talking about. According to the European press release, we'll be getting details on Wii and 3DS titles, but that's all we know. That sure leaves the speculation wide open!

I am honestly curious as to what else there could be to talk about with the Wii. The system has been on its way out for awhile now, and with the Wii U set to take center stage at E3 this year, what could Nintendo have tucked away for release? Are there going to be surprise game announcements, or perhaps more titles that will be localized?

Leave a comment and let us know what you think the Big N will be sharing. As of time of publishing, Nintendo of America is yet to announce plans for their own Nintendo Direct event. Let's hope that changes by the time I wake up!

GoNintendo 'End of Day' thought - What to expect from Ninten

All I care about is getting a Luigi's Mansion 2 and Paper Mario release date for all of us here in the west, personally [and new trailers, obviously].

I can wait till E3 until the Wii U mega blowout!

GoNintendo 'End of Day' thought - What to expect from Ninten

I'm guessing this Nintendo Direct will be 3DS centric and have new info about games we already know with maybe a bit of a tease for the Wii U, or maybe, JUST maybe, a game announcement for the 3DS/Wii U.

That last part is wishful thinking I know, But a man can dream can't he?

I'm just not expecting any megaton news to come out of this, given the track record for previous Nintendo Directs.

EDIT:

@chosenoneknuckles

But it's a Japan\Europe event, so I wouldn't expect western release dates at that, unless NoA decides to do one as well...

I never realised Nintendo Direct was something I should care about. I've been completely skipping over them on the GN feed because I thought they were just Nintendo Week-esque. How many have there been and what info/media has come out of them in the past?

According to the Japanese Direct site, it's going to focus once again on Wii and 3DS. I wonder what game they are bringing to Wii this late in the game still. Probably a Japan only game like Kiki Trick again. So disappointing.

What I'm looking forward to from the Japanese Nintendo Direct are the 3DS games. I wonder what new and exciting things we will see from that.

On the US side, we'll probably see Pandora's Tower making a surprise appearance at the end.

On the EU side, I'm hoping we get a MoHun announcement for 3DS and as well as more info on 3DS games that they announce that are coming out in Japan as well, since the EU Direct will most likely be the Japan Direct just like last time.

They still have a bunch of boring stuff they announced long ago they need to talk about. I expect to hear about Luigi's Mansion, Animal Crossing, Kid Icarus, Fire Emblem, Mario Tennis and Pokemon. The third party stuff will most likely be EOIV and Project X Zone.

@Totodile

I believe the localization of Last Story for USA was announced at the last one. Beyond that, I think DLC was talked about for Fire Emblem and there was more footage of other games as well.

They're pretty interesting to watch if you have a half hour to spare.

I'll probably sleep through it because I really don't care. In the unlikely event of interesting news, I'll just read about it later.

If it ain't E3, I don't.... I don't..... dammit, can't think of a rhyme for that.

PAYMEMYMONEY! :P :P

Just gonna copy/paste my expectations from the last thread with a little more elaboration.

I highly expect them to talk a little about the success of Kid Icarus+second round of AR card releases. Then maybe go into a little info up the newely released Fire Emblem and how you can get free dlc for it up till May 31st. Then probably go into Mario Tennis upcoming release info and hopefuly start giving out dates for Luigi's Mansion. I also expect a little chit-chat about the e-shop, and maybe any upcoming firmware updates. Hopefully more announcements on continued 3rd party support. As for WiiU? No WiiU info as far as I could see. Rest assured they'll want to keep all that juicy info for E3 here in a couple more months. Although if they wanted to hit us with that rumored name change I'd be all up for it, getting sick and tired of typing that up. Can never decied whether to capitalise the 'U' or not. :P Also since last Nintendo Direct yielded a Last Story release update for the US I'm guessing if NoA does decied to host their own then it will probably contain a release date for Pandora's Tower somewhere in all the talking.

GoNintendo 'End of Day' thought - What to expect from Ninten

Postby Jet Pilot » 20 Apr 2012 07:20

I have no expectations therefore I cannot be disappointed. You would think that people would've figured this out by now. But no. Once again people will speculate all day and hype themselves up only to be let down by the actual presentation because it didn't meet their made-up expectations. Is like a sort of masochism that most Nintendo fans enjoy...not this one.

Word. I don't even let myself get too excited for E3 announcements. 2003 and 2008 were soul crushing experiences. Never again, dammit. Keep those expectations low and you have nowhere to go but up.

The lack of an american one should be a good indicator of what we should get out of this.
If NoA actualy makes its own event, then I can look forward to it, if only to see some gameplay vids.

Information about the new Luigi's Mansion and Paper Mario would be nice. But I expect that Nintendo will show us footage of Mario Tennis Open, because we are close to it's release.

I really hope Nintendo will finally give a release date of Beat the Beat: Rhythm Paradise for Europe. At the last Nintendo Direct, Nintendo did release an Iwata Asks of the game, but they did not give a release date.

US:
Pandora's tower announced for US release
Information about the next 3DS update and what we can expect
trailers for various 3DS games

Europe:
Fatal Frame trailer
trailers for various 3DS games

I expect nothing more

@ridleysaria

I really don't understand the negativity behind E3 2003. Wasn't that when metroid prime 2 and resident evil 4 were announced?

But I completely agree with all the negativity behind E3 2008, seriously I was ashamed to be a nintendo fan that day.

2003 was the year where Nintendo's big focus was GC/GBA connectivity. I couldn't believe how much time they spent showing Pacman Vs. Seriously, you knew it was bad when that was their big game for the show. Prime 2 and RE4 were there but barely. The Prime 2 announcement was a 15 second clip that amounted to nothing more than a tease. RE4 wasn't playable either and it was the (underwhelming) version of the game that was completely shelved. Neither of those games had their true unveiling until E3 2004.

2003 was a pretty good year as far as released though. It was just E3 that sucked.

Oh yeah, nothing has been worse than 2008. That was the only year I actually got up from my computer and walked away. I listened from a distance, but I couldn't stand to watch anymore.
