speaking of cushiony pads and third party companies....

i'm surprised madcatz hasnt come out with anything for the ds. lol. i despise madcatz so much. theyd probably come out with some kinda grippy skin with all sorts of giant bumps on the sides and....eww...

(my friend had a gc madcatz controller that shut the system off when you plugged it in. it just turned off....WTF?)

Also a GBA port can help expand the memory of DS games.

For instance Jam with the Band had an expansion pack that you can put in the GBA Slot. It had more songs and features.

And the new DS camera needs a place to be plugged in.

I think it's amazing how small they made that camera. There should be a way to edit photos using the touch screen and email them via wi-fi. And DS face training has to be one of the most awkward games I've ever seen...only in Japan...

If there is a new DS lite, I hope Nintendo do not shift their design emphasis from games, by making a multi-functional console like Sony do.

I wouldn't worry about it.

Nintendo has no stake in the multimedia business. IF they do go this route, it'll be a la "let's have Opera make a browser and Apple make a MP3 and video player for us so we don't have to worry about it internally" sort of thing.

I don't like how the start and select buttons are in the middle of the ABXY buttons and D-Pad. I alsodon't like how the top screen is bigger then the touch screen.

looks kinda nice, but start being inbetween abxy and select being in the dpad is more than unpractical. believe, that would be SO annoying.

I dont think Nintendo really tries to 'be better than' most of the time. They just do their own thing and it works for them. This is an okay idea, but the buttons are kind of silly.

I would buy a DS over a PSP anyday though, movies or not.

I kind of hope that they do a redisign because I don't have the spare money to buy a DS lite, and I'd like to get the "newest" one when it comes out instead of just getting every DS system that comes out and is different. but I still hope they do it soon!

Gameboy advance games would work perfectly on it. I guess it could have a flash memory for saved Virtual Console games.

I was also thinking of a different kind of control between the D-pad or analog stick.

What about a D-pad with a (laptop) nub in the middle of it? You could use the nub when you needed it.

Aside from the fact that is would be a lot more comfortable, it is possible to play the GBA games with the DS closed now. Seeing the black screen while playing GBA games on my DS drives me crazy.

OF CORSE it wouldn't be the exact same as a sidekick. I just didn't want to photoshop more than it is worth.

If I had to guess, I'd say that it'll be another year before the DS successor is announced. As far as what they would do, it's really hard to say. They may drop GBA compatibility, but I don't see them dropping DS compatibility. Maybe two touch screens?

I think the upgrade will likely be a graphics bump, but hopefully they'll integrate a better online experience. Maybe a year from now, they'll realize it's important enough to make a core part of the design.

I'd go crazy if they announced somekind of "memorymodule" that'd go to GBA-slot. This “Memorymodule” would be storage for downloadable content such as DS’s own VC that hosts GB, GBC, GBA, GameGear, Lynx and TurboExpress!!! “Memorymodule” could also include a motionsensor and extra 3d-chip and RAM boost to narrow the grafix-gap between DS and PSP, but thats perhaps too much to ask(and a bit pointles). The rumored re-design could of-course have this module built-in.

I think I heard that Nintendo will not be dropping the Game Boy. I don't know, so maybe their next system will be a Gameboy or something. But a gameboy that will no doubt have some sort of interesting feature. Hopefully that'll be out in a year or 2, or so.
