We've seen a lot of interesting, weird and just plain off-the-wall Wii U rumors of the last few months. The closer we get to E3, the bigger and juicier the rumors get. While it can be hard to pick apart what might be true and what's pure bunk, I have to admit that I do enjoy the mystery of it all!

With that said, I have a triple-threat of Wii U rumors for you guys. I'm not even going to give you all the details here. You'll have to hit up the link and use Google Translate to get the murmurs, just like I did. Here's the tidbits you'll be reading up on.

- Nintendo + Epic = Metroid on UE3

- Big online multimedia content push for Wii U

- Wii U operating system to be mobile based

Out of all these rumors, the push for online content with Wii U seems most plausible. We've been hearing those rumblings for quite awhile. The other two rumors seem truly outrageous. Take your grain of salt and hit up the link for wild speculation! Just remember, for every rumor that turns out to be true, there are plenty of others that are pure lies!

...Assuming this is taken with a grain of salt, Wii U might follow the original path of the PS3, let users tinker as they see fit by letting them open the hood just a fraction, instead of needing to hack it which blows the whole thing off. That was partly the reason of decreased malicious hacking for piracy purposes for PS3 consoles, wasn't it?

On the article, it literally stated that the Wii U OS will be based upon Android. I'm 100% sure that's false. Nintendo's likes to have their own proprietary operating systems.

Something big is coming from Retro, teaming with Epic is not that far fetched, Epic did do the Gears trilagy exclusively for 360 which is like the last big hardcore 3rd part exclusive on any system.

The Wii U Garden Demo doesn't look like a Unreal Engine product.

I don't have faith in Epic of being capable of making a true Metroid Prime successor for Wii U. The VOD thing seems plausible, but this won't be available for germany because of GEMA and Sony BMG etc..

Nintendo should make a deal with T-Com and make T-Entertain working on 3DS and Wii U.
It would be great to watch TV shows on the 3DS, maybe 3D-Movies as well.

Actually, Epic would be the perfect developer for a Metroid Prime Hunters sequel, but I'd rather it be on the 3DS than the Wii U.

This, times a billion. It will be a sad day for GoNintendo users the day a Metroid developed by Sakamoto and Epic games is announced.

I can see Wii U on a highly customized Android OS with deep hooks into google and perhaps a paydoor into Google play, but it will be it's own walled garden within the Android environment that can download certain android compatible apps.

This would mesh nicely with Iwata noting Nintendo needed outside expertise on networked services; which many thought of as referring to Steam, or EA's origin, I think that would be a fairly narrow hardcore obvious choice and very un-Nintendo.

A play straight into the Android OS with the potential of the customized Nintendo OS showing up elsewhere in their ecosystem with complete apps compatability would be a much more significant move than having Gabe up there on stage pimping out Steam for Nintendo. Though that would be nice, I think outside of a few hundred thousand Nintendo only fans who will be using Steam for the first time and maybe a few million more 'marginal' users who stumble into it the impact of Steam would be small.

Android on the other hand could establish Nintendo as one of the largest android ecosystems out there and bring them immediate clout and silence critics.

I can see them going the Amazon route and make everything on Android OS but make it a phone, to avoid paying MS royalties and to give them a backdoor to the android apps market. Most importantly, it gives them a stable platform to work from, without having to re-invent the OS wheel everytime they introduce a new console.

So far, they've had a custom OS for every platform they've made.

I don't see what the problem is with Epic working on Metroid. Even if they are crappy, that doesn't mean anything. Nintendo has worked with crappy developers in the past, like:

Monster Games
Kuju Entertainment
Team Ninja

All of them are crappy when they aren't working with Nintendo. Nintendo can make an average dev do good work. But it's probably just using the unreal engine. Didn't the Metroid Prime games use the unreal engines? I remember reading that.

Multimedia push, that's not far fetch. They're doing something like that with 3DS aren't they? Isn't that why they are making deals with the guys who did Wallace and Gromit?

Don't know about the last one though.

It really depends on who makes it. If we're talking "Epic" proper in North Carolina, then fuck no. I don't want Cliffy B touching Metroid. If it was cHair, I'd take it if a few conditions were met:

A - Nolan North voices Samus Aran (It's a tough role, but I think he can do it)
B - The horrible aiming and physics from Shadow Complex are not present
C - The arbitrary speedrunning tactic of 'insert random door closing after X seconds' is nowhere to be seen
D - A good art style that was not present in Shadow Complex
E - Retcon Other M and Fusion (and possibly Zero Mission) in the process
F - No 4-tier difficulty bullshit. All of Epic's games have them, and they're all terrible for it. Shadow Complex, especially.

On the other hand, it'd still upset me since it'd be Nintendo refusing to make Metroid in-house, despite calling it a major franchise of theirs.
