It's batter if they went and used USB3.0 it has more then 2 TB and did you hear that it is almost faster then the blue Ray runs on the disc so if you install the game it will be much faster and as much as ralibel as flash mamory but here is the gist , it seems nintendo will not support this format=(

Harddrives will generally be faster than optical drives. and If I know nintendo they will use slow flash memory for their internal storage. not the superfast kind you see in solid state drives.

Agreed , But there is a turn awey aginst this ;) , if IF they make nintendo branded HDDs they can optmaize it for perfect conditions of the wii u s speed but I doubt nintendo will do this :( .

if they sold a nintendo brand HDD they would just be a Seagate or Western Digital harddrive in a nintendo shell. There isn't really any optimizing you can do. and a nintendo branded harddrive would probably be priced like the 360 harddrives, as in way too much for what they are.

So the only other soulution is sell a wii u with 16 gb flash for the casules and then sell a wii u aimed for the hardcore with a TB , I doubt you would need more if they relly want more they would buy an extrnel becuse from what Iwata and Reggie said the wii u won't be cheep we are talking about an expensive controller and hardwere that outclasses the 360ps3 and to add more they don't want to lose money and at top of that you want a batter HDD sorry bro you can't have all of it only if it's overpriced would you want that? so where do you propose we cut corners eh?

It will probably be USB 2.0, but in a perfect world it would be 3.0. 3.0 is too new, though, for Nintendo. They might surprise us and offer an internal hard drive, but I doubt it. Nintendo usually pairs with good third party hardware manufacturers...the only thing I bought with the Nintendo name that blew chunks was the Wii wireless access USB dongle. That thing worked for maybe 6 months...then quickly died. But, it was made for them, not by them.

Don't see big price difference between retail and digital as digital will be sold be retailers, will be available at WiiU launch

Um...Holy shovel?

Edit:

Digital prices will be set by retail

That...stinks.

prices set by retailers is better than prices set by 'never gonna drop the price, never gonna let it go down, never gonna have a sale and help you' nintendo.

I feel really old.

Have you tried Pokemon Colosseum or XD: Gale of Darkness? Of all the console Pokemon games, they're probably most like traditional handhelds.

Anyway, I heard that Game Freak doesn't plan on having the main series on anything other than handhelds, but maybe the Wii U will help to bridge the gap between console and handheld games with its controller.

I'll try those. Thanks

DD games from retailers will likely have lower prices than if you get them directly from the e-shop, and on top of that they may have discounts and will eventualy lower. Then again, the price should be a tad bit lower than physical format anyway but we'll have to see. These investor meetings are pretty good

This conference is really turning my excitement level for Wii U down by a ton.
They aren't announcing the price at E3 which means that they are gauging interest there.
They are doing what they did with the 3DS. Everyone needs to hate the system at E3, then maybe it'll be cheaper.

They don't want to announce the pricing there because it could kill hype they want to build. Also, they want to set the price AFTER they start manufacturing units.

Also, Nintendo said they got burned by increasing the price of the 3DS due to E3 hype.

I would be honestly shocked if foxconn isn't already taking shipment of components, if not already working on assembly.

Should I expect the online infrastructure on the Wii U to be as s***y as the online infrastructure in the Nintendo 3DS?

I think I saw a handful of people saying "Yeah...expect Nintendo to make the online on the Wii U to be as s***y as the online on the Nintendo 3DS." http://gonintendo.com/?mode=viewstory&id=176294

And I think this is totally obvious, but it seems like Nintendo is abandoning the idea of making the Wii U cater to the core (not hardcore) gamers, but I could be wrong (like usual).

My definition of core and hardcore gamers is that the core gamers are the ones who play every single console (including PCs) and more than a few video game genres (such as traditional RPGs, action adventure, platformers, etc.) while the hardcore gamers are gamers who play only one console and only a few variety of video game genres (first person shooters, third person shooters, MMORPGs, etc.). You may not agree with me and that's fine.

oh, in that case, yea, they probably never had any intention in going after the 'core' audience. they pay lip service, but they don't want to do the work it would take.

I am going to buy a ps4. along with a wiiu. that's because I've been around the block a few times, I know that the third party games I'm interested in simply won't be on wiiu. I'm honest with myself, I buy nintendo systems for nintendo games. And don't mistake my pragmatism for apathy or dislike. I've been a nintendo fan for longer than most people on this board have been alive, I will always be. If I could only have one system, it's a nintendo system, no hesitation, no regret.

If I seem like I bitch about them a lot its because I want to see them do great things again. I want to see them do right by their most loyal fans, I want more SNES, less wii.

well to be truthful with you i only expect capcom, Sega, ubisoft to be the only supporters of Wii u and that is saying much in itself

we can only hope if the rumors are true that they are listening to third party's if its true we might be in a big surprise in for e3 that might make some jaded people a little cheerful :D

They abandoned the idea as soon as they decided to keep those specs within gen7 range.

But it will have individual accounts...

So who's now expecting Smash bros. to appear at E3 in some form with Sony revealing their smash bros. clone yesterday?

I am expecting something akin to the E3 2006 reveal now.

I think they will have a GGI Trailer for it and reveal some characters just because it will sell more systems. Even though Im sure we won't see the game until 2014-2015
