Nintendo talks the success of the eShop, but there's room for improvement

The Internet connection ratio forms the basis for deploying a digital business. In the case of Nintendo 3DS, the net connection ratio has been growing gradually. In the Japanese and the U.S. markets, over 70% of the hardware units sold have been connected to the Internet, which is the highest ratio among all the handheld video game systems Nintendo has launched. Also, as time goes by, a gradual increase has been observed, which is a sign of sound growth. In contrast, the ratio in the European and Australian markets is about 50%, which is not a satisfactory level yet. However, when we make the comparison with the previous handheld game systems in the same markets, the situation has significantly improved.

And, consumers are not visiting the Nintendo eShop only once. The number of repeat visitors has largely grown in comparison to that for our previous platforms such as the Wii and the Nintendo DSi. This trend has been maintained even after the turn of the year.

Of course, we know that the Nintendo eShop still has room for improvement. However, we have a strong feeling that the foundation for us to deploy our digital businesses has been properly laid out.

I love the e-shop. Yeah, it could be better, but it's still a great service. More games are always welcome and sales would be nice. I would love it if it was cheaper.

If they start doing retail downloads it will get more visitors and they need to add the Pokemon games on the VC. The eShop is great and I love it, I still need to purchase Dillion's Rolling Western...

They could start by adding more Game Boy Virtual Console titles to the US eShop. >_>

YEah, they really should up the flow of Virtual Consoles, but I agree, the eShop is great. Hell, even though I'm a PS+ user, I rarely log on the PSN to download my free games, yet I log in EVERY thursday to see what's new on the eshoap, and I ALMOST ends up buying something each week. I have more than 120 Downloadable games on my 3DS... counting the ambassador ones and the free videos we got since the launch (the E3 videos mainly). It's... quite a lot. O_O AND I've not bought everything. I bought maybe only half the 3DSware games... Okay, maybe the third, but not more. ;)

I'm really enjoying the eShop, I actually like it more then all the other video game systems online shops and with the new layout I'm finding it very easy to look through. It's easily one of the better online digital stores and it's very easy to see what all is knew, what all is popular, what all is rated well, and learning about what is out there and (key feature) adding it to the wishlist is extremely easy.

The eShop has been a great improvement over WiiWare. That's for sure. However, I don't fully love it. It still needs a lot of work and this whole "release only 1 game per week" thing has to go away ASAP. Yes, there's been some stellar games released on the service already that I've purchased, but the feeling of disappointment has overwhelmed me over the course of these past updates.

There's one thing I do look forward from the eShop and it's the Nintendo Show 3D. It's probably the main reason why I bother to check it at the moment.
