Deadly Creatures. That was a game I had been interested in leading to release and then I wound up just losing interest after reviews came out. I'd still get it if I could find it cheap though, to satisfy my curiosity.

Another game that had a similar effect on me was Mushroom Men. Was totally interested, lost interest and then forgot about it entirely.

I'm sure they are both decent though. Just never really saw much of them/had priorities.

You mean that decent-good review scores scared you away? These games weren't getting 2s and 3s. Why not try them out for yourself? They shouldn't be expensive now. You may still like what you could have missed. I'm still finding new PS1 and PS2 games that I had skipped over in the past.

Fragile Dreams....I loved it, but there were moments that the horrendous controls made you want to throw the Wiimote against the wall.

I thought the fighting was similar to Phantasy Star Online. You had to press the attack button again right when the previous attack ended, instead of button mashing. 1...2...3...

What I didn't like were my weapons breaking. It one thing that I also strongly disliked about Dark Cloud and shield-breaking in Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. I know that shield bashing is easy, and I can go through most of the game without a shield, but sometimes I forget that shields can break and have an "OOPS" moment when I notice that I've blocked something. The Hylian shield should have been made available earlier in the game.

I've played it and enjoyed it. It had a lot of great ideas and a charming aesthetic, but I guess it wasn't properly funded since it has a number of other issues. It's a shame, since it could have been a really good game. Monster design was fantastic.

Rogue Trooper: Quartz Zone Massacre.

It may have only been a slightly upgraded port of a somewhat obscure ps2/pc game but it was excellently handled, looked fantastic on the system and was a load of fun to play.

So unusual to see a Wii game with heavy use of ragdoll physics too, and with bodies that don't evaporate.

Not sure if this would count, but Rune Factory Frontier is one of my favorite games of all time. I must have logged well over a hundred hours in 3 separate playthroughs.
But if it doesn't, then my favorite obscure title would probably be Trauma Team. The gameplay was nice and varied, and most of it was done well. Plus the music was awesome.
Really loved this theme in particular. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hpqHH1VScfQ

Also, Dawn of Discovery was nice too. Very simple build-a-civilization type game, but relaxing.

Maybe I don't block enough, but I think only one of my shields broke in the entirety of Skyward Sword, and I feel like it had something to do with fire, but I might be making that up.

I do, however, agree that the Hylian Shield should've been earlier.

On the subject of breakable weapons, I think I am very used to them, thanks to more recent Silent Hill games, Dead Rising, Condemned and Deadly Premonition. I hated it originally, but I think I have experienced it so much that it feels normal to me now. Haha.

I still need to get Fragile. D:

Opoona is still one of my favorite games on the Wii. For only $10 now, you get an enormous RPG with one of the largest, most minutely detailed game worlds I've ever explored.

I've played a handful of these games, but my favorites are by far S&P2, Fragile Dreams, Opoona, NyxQuest, Little King's Story and Rune Factory Frontier. Fragile and Opoona aren't perfect but their visuals, music, narratives, and worlds are just so great, I'm willing to overlook gameplay flaws.

No More Heroes 1 and 2 - Not so obscure around here or other gaming sites but most people have no idea what No More Heroes is and that's a shame because it makes some of the best use of motion controls on the system and Suda 51 is amazing.

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories - Silent Hill fans hate this game (of course, Silent Hill fans hate everything that isn't called "Silent Hill 2") but I personally thought it was one of the best in the series. Yeah, it didn't play like a traditional Silent Hill game but I still feel that it caught the essence of a Silent Hill game.

Pokepark Wii - This game doesn't really seem to get brought up a lot. With good reason, I guess. There's nothing particularly special about it and it's not worth $50. But it's still a fun and cute game.

MadWorld - I still have to buy myself a copy of this but from what I've played of it it's a lot of fun. Shame it sold so poorly.

Calling - A crappy survival horror game about haunted phones or something. But I'm a sucker for survival horror so I found myself enjoying Calling. It's like a less crappy version of that Grudge game.

This topic reminds me: I have Cursed Mountain but haven't really gotten around to playing it yet. And I still want Deadly Creatures.

Nights: Journey of Dreams: The human platforming levels border on grotesque at times, the Nightopian pet-care mini-game plays out like the Bataan deathmarch, and that fight with the witch cat was almost certainly programmed by the same people who gave us It's No Use Take This.

That said, it is hard to hate the game when its (non-motion-based) flying controls are still tight as a drum and becoming proficient enough to A-Rank every level/beat other players in racing or scoring presents a modest-but-decent degree of challenge.

Not to mention, when the game is good, it is good.

Holy crap! I totally forgot that game. It has multiple endings, and you need to play through a different characters' side of the story to see them.
What's also creepy are the love letters and pictures that gets sent to your Wii as you're playing through the game.

Elebits

Opoona - RPG

Dragon Quest Swords

Dragonball: Revenge of King Piccolo

Shiren The Wanderer

Fragile Dreams

Tenchu Shadow Assassins

A Boy and His Blob

Little Kings Story

Muramasa The Demon Blade

Sonic and the Black Knight

Final Fantasy Crystal Bearer

Silent Hill Shattered Memories

Sky Crawlers

Valhalla Knights: Eldar Saga

Cursed Mountain

Excitebots

Guilty Gear Accent Core(though i'd rather have plus)

Onechanbara Bikini Zombie Slayers

Dokapon Kingdom

And I'm probably missing a few. I'd have to physically go through my games. Then, when you get to WiiWare, that's a whole other beast.

Arc Rise Fantasia - Horrible voice acting but has a surprisingly decent storyline with a fun battle system

Endless Ocean - Probably one of the most relaxing games that I've played

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers - Even though it has Final Fantasy in its title, it doesn't play like one. I enjoyed it for the mini-games and it looks good compared to most games on Wii

I passed on No More Heroes, MadWorld and Red Steel 2 because I was broke at the time of their releases and other games had my priority. I might have to give them a try some day.

Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings is a great game despite the bad reviews.

MadWorld is an amazing game.

Liked Dawn of Discovery.

Sin and Punishment 2 is a masterpiece all-around.

I see noone mention is so I will: Octomania

Is a game developed by Compile Hearts, people who work on Puyo Puyo games in past. So this game is similar to Puyo Puyo because it's frantic versus multiplayer puzzle-action aracade game, but is also quite unique. Idea is to move falling octopi across the play field by using your cursor to rotate them counter to the clock, and place them inside randomly appearing numbered nets. By Placing a number of same-colored octopuses inside the net, these octopi as well any other ones of the same color which are connected orthogonally are remove. This start off chain which remove all same-colored octopi next to the ones previously removed. Doing this stuff will send sea urching to opponent play field and they must be removed in 3 seconds or is game over for that player. You understand, yes? Probably no, so just watch the demonstration vid:

Was released in Japan arcades originally, and Wii port is more than arcade perfect. Has more modes and cool 4-player mode. Very good game, 5-star, must play for Wii.

I will also recommend Ghost Squad. Solid lightgun shooter-em-up.

Does Wario Land The Shake Dimension count as obscure? Probably not, but it was a pretty good platformer regardless, and it seems like it did terribly sales wise and kind of fell straight off the radar near instantly.

The graphics were really nice, the music was okay and the levels and bosses were generally well designed, and while it didn't quite live up to the earlier installments, I do consider it a good game.

Sin and Punishment 2 was an adrenaline rush for sure. I loved that game.
