Like most people above, though, there is absolutely NO WAY that VC GameCube games would be upscaled to HD. Retaining the charm of the old graphical styles of those games are very important.

N64 games played at double resolution on Wii though. And personally I completely fail to see how upping the resolution on a 3d game alone would do anything to remove 'charm' from the title. That makes no sense, play SMS and Metroid Prime 2 in Dolphin and tell me anything is lost

Haven't heard anything.

0%?! Really, considering that Wii VC N64 games are upscaled from 240i to 480p (8x the pixel info) I'd say there's a 100% chance of VC Cube games running above SD on Wii U. HD is a resolution & not a shader model, we're talking about resolution here.

I'm getting the feeling that the term "HD" is starting to be misused in the same way "next gen" is misused, as a meaningless buzz word, "Next Gen HD Blast Processing!".

Odds of the games being on the Wii U at all, I'd say that's a 99% chance, they would have been on the Wii if it had the internal memory.

I have seen Wind Waker in 1080p and Mario Sunshine, both look amazin. So it's why I started the thread in regards to Nintendo releasing them on the Wii U VC, though I think like you said that some people are confused. I didn't think that Nintendo would do psysical HD remakes, I just assumed they would be upscaled on the virtual console.

If Wind Waker got a re-release, I'd want it to be a proper re-release with the 2 cut dungeons added back in. And maybe a better Triforce Hunt (i.E. not as expensive or obnoxious).

I can see the GC games going for HD, but only a select few like the 3D Classics (As someone said before this post). If Super Mario Sunshine or Wind Waker is released as HD, I'll be all over those, unless the price is a little bit of my range.

I can see Nintendo releasing HD remakes. There's clearly quite a bit of money in it since so many companies keep doing it nowadays. But if Nintendo decides to go through with this idea, I hope Nintendo either adds new levels, worlds, dungeons, etc. into the rereleased games or decides to go with HD compilations (maybe including wii games in this as well). Either of those ideas would make the games an easy sell for me.

The only way I see that happening is if they get a whole new batch of executives. doing cool stuff like that just goes against everything they are.

Making a "remake" would loose some of the charm of the originals, but simply upping the resolution is a win win. Cube games looked great to start with.

I wonder though, if they would be able to fix frame rate issues on old Cube games, like making Wave Race & Sunshine run at 60 fps. Those two games play just fine at 30fps, but pushing them to 60fps in HD would be awesome.

This is something i speculated from the beginning when they announced fully downloadable digital titles.

It's way easier route to take those softwares and improve/fix/tweak/optimize for the new system and possibly in HD, release them through DL and some kind of software emulation but I would rather end up they would just modify the engines.

This way saves the whole hardware space for backward compatability.

But here's the catch ... Wii and GCN are same things ... so this is a bit wierd what kind of BC it has, for Wii it would have to have Wii hardware inside, but I think they didn't do GC emulation not because it was not possible but because they choosed the system-friendly route of doing programming, so they would CUT costs and save space on the console by not including memory card slots, gcn controller slots, DVD drive GCN readability, and all that ...

Leaves more space in the console for cooling, better hardware.

I'll bet my bottom dollar that's why there isn't gcn bc. I'll bet that once we get our hands on a wiiu, someone will find a way and it will be able to boot GCN ISOs just fine. they should have done what the PS3 does for ps1 bc, make virtual memory cards and the emulator treats the ps3 controller as a ps1 controller. just give the ability for the wiiu to receive from a wave bird and then release "new" wireless gcn controllers for 20$ a pop. bam.
