I'm not trying to draw any attention to myself here, but the source link just points to the original thread. On Friday, I posted
this update:
OK, so I don't want to throw any more fuel onto this rumor fire, but I just had a very interesting trip to GameStop. I'll try to recount this as accurately as possible.
I was there to plop down some more on a reserve for The Last Story and also to ask if New Play Control! Pikmin 2 was in there system. I spoke to the general manager there. When I asked him about Pikmin 2, he immediately pushed for The Last Story. He pushed it real hard. And then he said something interesting "And another one you gotta look out for is Pandora's Tower." I didn't ask him about it. He's the one who brought it up. "It's coming out here too," he said. Somewhere along the line he says it'll come out sometime in August.
I'm sitting there kind of shocked. I ask, "So, how do you know this?"
"Because, I'm a GameStop manager."
I ask him about this rumored e-mail. "I can't say anything about that" is his reply along with a smile. Although granted, this guy was being a hardcore salesman, so that smile was probably there the whole time, just magnified at this point.
So then he starts on about how awesome Dragon's Dogma looks, shows me some trailers on his Vita for it. (Man, he was really excited for Dragon's Dogma). Etc. Etc.
When I go to pay for my Last Story reserve, my cashier tries to look up Pikmin 2. Then the manager brings up Pandora's Tower again and says that the SKU is not in the system, but it will be available for pre-order in June.
So there you go.
EDIT: He also said something along the lines of Xenoblade being a test for this and that it did pretty well for them. He didn't directly say this, but rather "it was one of those titles that should have been pre-ordered. You can't just walk in and pick one up."
There was something still a little fishy about it to me. We'll see where this heads.
