New York, NY and Los Angeles, CA – May 1, 2012 – Spike TV and GameTrailers will team up this summer to deliver extensive multi-platform coverage of the 2012 Electronic Entertainment Expo with “E3 All Access Live.” The live special will provide gamers with over 40 gaming exclusives and special guest interviews with more than 17 hours of coverage across multiple platforms. Spike’s and GameTrailers’ 2011 live E3 multi-platform special was the number one destination for E3 coverage last year*, garnering more than 10 million combined online and on-air viewers, and was also the largest live streaming event in Viacom history.

Considered to be the ultimate event in the video game industry, the 2012 Electronic Entertainment Expo runs June 5-7, 2012 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. “E3 All Access Live” will kick-off its multi-platform and multi-channel coverage on Spike TV, in HD, from Los Angeles one day before the event is open to the public on Monday, June 4 (Noon-5:30pm ET/ 9:00am-2:30pm PT) and a wrap-up special that night at 10:00-11:00pm ET / 7:00-8:00pm PT. Spike TV will telecast five more live hours on Tuesday, June 5 (Noon-5:00pm ET/ 9:00am-2:00pm PT). The live special will also be supported through additional digital pre and post shows as well as through online simulcasts.

For the first time ever, Spike will partner with sister Viacom Media Networks, such as MTV2; MTVU; VH1; Tr3s: Música y Más and others to provide additional programming coverage.

Spike’s E3 expert team include “GTTV” hosts Geoff Keighley, Amanda Mackay, Daniel Kayser, and Justine Ezarik, as well as Katie Linendoll, host of the network’s newest tech-centric show, “All Access Weekly.”

Spike TV Unites With Viacom Networks To Deliver Live Unprece

Postby thegreatscp » 01 May 2012 15:54

So, if they're airing it earlier in the day, does this mean they'll actually carry the press conferences on live TV? Does this mean G4TV is no longer the official E3 TV channel this year?

Because, quite honestly, now that Sessler's gone, I'd MUCH prefer Keighley and the GTTV folk over whoever is even left at G4.

I'll probably do the same thing as last year. hd streams of the various conferences. I'll get it in HD and I won't have to listen to stupid network talking heads. win win.

If they can give Nintendo some fair coverage I'm all in. Lets not make this a fanboy affair Game Trailers because I can get the same exact thing on G4.

@Chosenoneknuckles

Good point but I like the behind the scenes content and game play analysis after the conference which they show on TV. I'll probably watch Nintendo's actual conference on their live stream too though.

Yeah, I mean Ninty's presser is always the highlight every year. But, once it's over, you don't want to rely on their PR people to show you stuff lol. Surely you'd want journalists to do that and what not.

The trick I learned in 2010 is to just access the e3 press kit yourself, the morning of the show. Just find some guy who's posted the access info, and it makes for a much easier time trying to see the videos and screens of new games instead of waiting on IGN/ Kotaku/ etc to slowly get around to putting them up.

Yes, and I can honestly say that Keighley is pretty objective. He and Reggie have a great repore and and interview with the two of them is always the highlight of E3 once the presser is over and all the cats are out of the bag.

Everything here is true, I honestly believe that GTTV would be the least Nintendo-prejudiced. Makes me happy that with this and Adam Sessler leaving G4, I NEVER have to see G4 again.

As others have said, with Sessler gone, I'm rather fine with this. Keighly is pretty cool so it shouldn't be Morgan Webb-like.

I was wondering what would be doing for E3 since I generally hate watching G4 with all there dumb commercials for Cops re-runs. I Guess I know to watch Spike now.

Sounds like a sweet idea.

Guess I'll have to keep a closer eye on NeoGAF than usual on E3 week to pre-quire such information. :)

Or, better yet, create a video game fansite and get the login from NoA themselves. :P

I'll be sure to get up all the stuff up ASAP (as will RMC, of course). I might mirror all the original files right after the presentation, as Nintendo's server will be under a ridiculous amount of server strain.

Well I am just applaud at this announcement. Ever since Direct-TV took away G4 a couple years back, I've been having to watch E3 online, which is a pain if you hate lag.

I hate the host of GameTrailers (Uncharted fanboy), but G4 is much more worse in general.
Feel free to add me on Wii U! I like having GoNintendo users as friends on there :)

Dear GoNintendo users, I'm honestly asking for your reasons on why it would be smart to switch to Spike TV from G4 (who had The Nerdist last year). And...GO!
