Middle of the week is here already. This week is slipping by quickly. Let's see if we can't slow things down once the weekend hits! Happy Wednesday to all you guys and gals. See you in a few, short hours.

Nintendo is usually the last of the big 3 hardware publishers to announce their E3 press conference date and time, and this year was no different. The Big N finally confirmed their press conference and when it will be, pushing many to run to their calendars and mark the date down. June 5th cannot get here soon enough!

While we all expected the date and time that was given, it's definitely nice to have a confirmation. Now that the event is set in stone, we can all start to plan just how we're going to tackle the event. I was reading through some comments that were made on our announcement post earlier yesterday, which had me wondering just how seriously some of you take Nintendo's press event.

When E3 kicks off and Nintendo holds their press conference on the morning of, just how dedicated are you to keeping tabs on all that's going on? Some people will be stuck at work and unable to watch any live streams out there. Others have school and will have to wait until after classes in order to catch up on all the goodies. Then there are the die-hards...

I know plenty of people that take the whole day off in order to watch Nintendo's press conference and keep up on all the news. Hell, before I was running GoNintendo, I used to hook up my computer to the TV and have people over to watch the event! I'm not surprised that people take off of work and school to get in on the action!

Tell us what you plan to do for Nintendo's press conference. Where are you going to be watching? What kind of setup are you going to have? Are you skipping out on other obligations? Will you have some friends along for the fun? Leave a comment and let us know!

I usually just watch the Nintendo conference. Everything else I just read about later.

Here, it's usually in the evening, so it's all good and well for me. I watch it online on some site (IGN, Nintendo's official, etc), then read about any other news that didn't appear on the live conferance.

Etc, etc~

GoNintendo 'End of Day' thought - How do you prepare for E3?

Postby Artistic_Anarchy » 02 May 2012 06:32

I've been going to E3 for years now so I always make sure I take the days off from work. Last year, I couldn't make it to see the conferences live, but I was at home watching the streams. I'm already set for this year too, so I can't wait to try out the games!

I work the graveyard shift but don't typically go to bed until 10 or 11 am in the morning, so I'll be able to catch the whole conference before crashing. It'll be a long night before that though.

I usually watch the livestream on the computer with my cat. I had fun last year when we all stayed up late talking about E3 and exchanging friend codes. I hope we can do that again this year on Gonintendo.

For the last couple of years I've been wanting to have a big bonfire while watching Nintendo's press conference. I don't know... fire + Nintendo sounds like fun! <.< I just don't want the fire department showing up at my house again.

... maybe a small fire would be ok.

I'm going to be watching the stream with /v/ and also monitoring here as well. I plan to take some time off for Nintendo's at least. It should be pretty fun.

GoNintendo 'End of Day' thought - How do you prepare for E3?

Postby Chosenoneknuckles » 02 May 2012 07:18

It's always at 5pm here in the UK for me, so I'm usually eating dinner at the computer here [bad I know]! :P

During the show I have one browser open with the GN thread [so I can post stuff], and another with the Conference [usually the official Nintendo provided link]. Usually keep a Notepad document open with all my thoughts as things happen [for easy reposting on other forums].

Turns out the Nintendo Conference is on the day of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee here, so I don't have to worry about being called into work that day either. :) 8)

I'm gonna prepare for E3 by finding out where I can watch a replay of it the next day without spoiling any of it. Somehow I think that will be an impossible task.

Sadly when it comes to E3 you can usually gauge just how epic a confrence that was had by whomever based on your inability to stay spoiler free. Its like if its a massive megaton of ninjas on rainbows level of awesome sure as hell you are NOT getting through the day without someone spoiling a big reveal. On the flip side of that, its kinda nerve racking if you've managed to make it the entire day with little to no spoilers as it usually means nothing of value was gained by a piss poor E3 showing.

I'm probably going to mess up my sleeping schedule on purpose a week before so I can catch it and get all excited about it and then conk out right after.

It's moments like these that make me happy I don't have a job.

But no, really. 4 AM? C'moooooon Nintendo. C'MON!

@V3N0M

well if i stay clear of gonintendo, facebook and any other gaming website i reckon i should be fine. It's just a case of how I'm gonna resist the temptation to just spoil the whole thing by going to ign or something for a whole day.

GoNintendo 'End of Day' thought - How do you prepare for E3?

Postby FrenchFryGuy » 02 May 2012 08:08

My friends and I already put in for vacation time in advance so we don't have to worry about anything and I always put in for two days so I can have an extra day to recover just in case the news is too awesome.

Will probably settle on either G4 or Spike TV's live coverage of the press conferences. Pizza and pop will be the sustenance of choice during the event. It's like a party in the morning instead of midnight.

I treat E3 like a football fan treats the Super Bowl. Only E3 is 3 Days long.I call/request off work and I invite my friends over and they all bring their laptops and Junk food. Since I live in the Eastern Time Zone we have a little bit of time before the presentations actually starts so we normally bust out some split screen/multiplayer games. Each person is in charge of following one gaming site while the TV is Blaring G4 (this year it'll be Spike) We make lists of what games are coming normally it's by publisher, this way we are able to follow up on the "forgotten" games at E3. It's looking like this could be Nintendo's best E3 since 2010. I'm honestly more excited for Nintendo's this year than Sony or Microsoft's.

GoNintendo 'End of Day' thought - How do you prepare for E3?

Postby thegreatscp » 02 May 2012 09:27

Well, since I have dual monitors...lol:

One screen: Nintendo/ etc press conference

Second screen: Twitter feed, following 25 or so important people in the industry/press who specifically cover games

It's really just a total eyegasm. There's no other way to describe it.

this is really sad but i'll be in basic training during E3. i'll probably have my wife write me a letter with the high points. it's going to suck missing it. i'm hoping for some big support on the wii u. it would be amazing if GTA 5 was on the wii. even if the screen is just used as a map i'd be satisfied. there's a lot of potential there. it could be used as a rear view mirror when driving. that'd be rad!

i hope retro is working on a new metroid game. and of course pikmin 3 is going look glorious. man, i'm super bummed now. at least when i get out of basic i'll be able to buy a 3DS and a Wii U.

edit: totally used to call out of work in previous years but can't do that this time due to obvious reasons.

I'm on the east coast so 12pm is a perfect time for me to catch the conference over lunch! I usually bring my lunch that day so I can sit at my desk with several tabs of live streams ready in case one breaks down :)

Its a ritual. Some of my friends poke fun at me by constantly asking about it while I watch but I don't care :)
