Midnight Purple 3DS for Males?

I told my friend who has a Cosmo Black 3DS that I may get the Midnight Purple 3DS and he laughed at me saying that Midnight Purple was not a manly color and an article I read on Shacknews.com said that the Midnight Purple 3DS was "meant to widen the system's appeal to girls, as Nintendo has had luck in the past with expanding its handheld market toward the female demographic." Whats your opinion about this?

I would buy the purple one if I didn't already have the Cosmo Black 3DS. It's very nice and brings back memories of the Gamecube...just buy it. It's sexy.

I don't know how it is in Japan, maybe over there purple is considered a feminine color, but in the west, purple's more of a unisex color that symbolizes royalty. If it were a very bright purple, as in close to being pink, I could maybe see what your friend was talking about, but this is a really dark purple, so I'm gonna have to disagree.

As a male, I would replace my Cosmo Black 3DS with a purple one in an instant. (Only if it looks like the E3 model in person)

Only things stopping me are possibilities of Cobalt Blue, Orange, White, Green... all colors I prefer to Purple (it still looks fantastic though), and that I don't have the money to blow :p

If I remember from what I saw, I think it has a twinge too much of pink in that. For some reason, when I think of purple, I think of a more bluish-purple/violet. But this one looks more like 'hot-pink, but kind of darker'. Honestly, if it was a bluer shade of purple, I think it'd be kinda cool. But just as much as I wouldn't go for a white-pink 3DS, I probably wouldn't personally go for this shade.

I like the cobalt blue, though...nice mix of green/turquoise/blue/etc. Kinda wanted black just to be 'different' since cobalt blue is the main advertised color, but at the time that I bought it, I heard some rumors about the black units having defects, so I just went with blue...oh well.

I like it also because it seems like a darker shade of purple hence the name 'Midnight Purple' if it was a lighter shade of purple I would not get it. I'm waiting to see it in person because sometimes those official pics don't represent its color in reality just like the Aqua Blue official pics make it look very light blue but under light it looks more greenish-blue to me. I wish NoA would just release the Ice White 3DS in North America already.

I would say the "girly" colors are pink, purple, and yellow. Although, pink is the only one you rally have to worry about. A guy with a pink 3DS would be a little weird, but purple isn't so bad.

I would get a Purple 3DS for a friend that loves purple, but not for me, I want a red one, since most of my handhelds have been red, my favorite color.
But I wouldn't say there's something wrong with a man owning a purple 3DS.

there's nothing wrong with any color. if i liked pink, there's nothing wrong with that. purple would be pretty cool if it's metallic. if it's just a glossy acetate or something, i'll pass.

put a mn vikings sticker on the purple 3ds if you're really concerned about your dudebros checking out your arse too much.

I actually like the purple quite a bit, if I didn't already have a 3DS (black) I would get one. It doesn't look as nice as the E3 one, but it is hard to tell by the pictures (after seeing the blue one in person, it kind of made me regret getting black.) Purple and orange were my 2 favorites from the original E3 models, and I don't even generally like orange things.
