I don't know if the 25th anniversary and includes labels could be misleading for potential consumers...

@zeeroid
I am not too surprised: it's one of the Wii's swan songs in a particularly weak year. But yes, it is disappointing.

It came out when the Wii had lost relevance, it wouldn't be surprising if sales are being less than expected.

On another note, Nintendo really needs to add more games to Nintendo Selects. Brawl, Galaxy 2, NSMB Wii, Metroid Prime 3 or Trilogy, Fire Emblem, WarioWare SM and others are waiting!
Currently Playing- Wii: Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, 3DS: Super Mario 3D Land, X360: Deus Ex HR

It certainly is the worst proper home console Zelda.

The worst handhelds are a tie between phantom hourglass and spirit tracks (depends on what one you personally hate more for whatever reasons). They still suck the hardest though.

I wonder if it was healthy for Nintendo to put out what seems like so many Zelda's in recent years vs giving other ip's their share. Then again, the problems with them all is at core, the controls + strict linear progression, and boring environments.

@rahnyc4@Gakdudes@scikoolaid I can't believe all the Skyward Sword hate. For me it's my new favorite Zelda game and my 3rd favorite game of this generation just behind mario galaxy and TWEWY. It does have flaws, but it does so many things right that i look past them. I for one hope they keep the changes they did to the formula in Zelda+the amazing controls and expand on them with a bigger world (maybe made by monalith) and...well that's it. Make it "prettier" on the Wii U and boom, another amazing game

I liked the 1:1 motion controls! Bring them back for the Wii U version, but include the Wii U tablet also. What if you could use the Wii remote as your sword, but have the tablet on the side so you can change your gear quickly?

I personally thought the game was disappointing because of all the padding in the game.

Games, great, those that think it sucks, aren't much of gamers, yes there was padding, but that didn't stop me from enjoying the world, the music, the visuals, the story, and the awesome pacing and puzzles. I also refrained from using any in game or external guides. The way it was meant to be played.

Spirit tracks was awesome too, so I don't know what's the deal with those people as well, Phantom Hourglass wasn't as good, though I also did enjoy that at the time.

Skyward Sword's problem is that it has a good 12 hours added just to make the game unnecessarily longer. Getting to the 2nd dungeon, then making me do a fetch quest that took me about an hour? BULLSHIT.

Fi was awful too, but everyone knows this

Skyloft was the most boring hub town in a Zelda game ever. It looked nice, and it was nice to explore for the first few minutes... but it's really small. But at least I can use my bird to fly in the sky! The empty, barren, boring sky with nothing to do... ugh

Motion controls worked about 80% of the time for me. They were nice, but traditional controls are still king.

3 overworlds that were each rehashed is extremely embarrassing, such a low standard for this series... smh. The designs were fine, but I was bored by them rather quickly, IMO. Lanayru Desert was the only standout thanks to the time mechanic.

The dungeons/story/music/art style were all phenomenal of course, but overall, the good:bad ratio in the game favors bad more in this case for me.

For me its probably a 6.5/10... maybe a 7. It was good, but FAR from great. TOO MUCH FILLER, NINTENDO. SHORT, GOOD GAME >>> LONG, PADDED GAME.

@FrenchFryGuy

It's pretty much par the course for this game these days, lol. Whenever the game comes up, the discussion will always derail into whether it was good or not. I thought it was just ok - there is a great game in there, but it's just hard to find for me.

Its not even hate for me, I've finished every zelda game and I have an obligation to judge a new entry by all the other games or else whats the point of trying to rehash a game if you aren't going to improve it, be it by making tweaks like control perks or changing up the formula. But no one wants something that strays so far from the delicate freedom/follow the story structure that zelda games have nor do they want controls that are blatantly thrown in your face to take or leave it.

Look at the DS games, there was NO EXCUSE, NONE! NONE!!! To avoid using the buttons/dpad in addition to the touchscreen controls. It was disgusting to see on Phantom hourglass, and then what did they do for Spirit tracks? THEY DID IT AGAIN! It was insanely bad decisions like that, and the idea of wasting your time riding a train or boat through nearly empty areas sprinkled with annoying obstacles to purposely kill you if your not watching the game, in a, get this, portable game. Isn't the biggest feature of portable games to be pick up and put away for the next chance? Look at how Link's Awakening or the Oracle games played and saved and you'd at least get the idea that there wasn't a time sink in traveling the world. Let alone in Spirit tracks you were confined to a single route.

As for Skyward Sword I have to say that making your 'explorable' areas into pre-dungeon puzzles, as one in the same, that can only be done one way, is such a telling point of game padding and just plain weak content. It really amazes me that Skyward Sword made me appreciate Twilight Princess oh so much more.

@FrenchFryGuy

For real?.. If the game sucked to you it will continue sucking wether it's on sale or not.

Personally, sucked may be a bit harsh, but yeah, I agree with most people here that feel the game was underwhelming.
