Sure it does. There are lots of creative FPS games out there (not that 'shooter' only means FPS). I mean, Nintendo happens to have a great example of that in Metroid Prime. I wish they'd keep that up and continue innovating. I'd be so happy if Prime 4 were announced at E3, or any new Retro produced Metroid game.
Other consoles have their own titles (and I'm not talking about Call of Duty) that I could list off, It's just that people don't bother actually exploring the genre to find the gems, and instead spend their time obsessively hounding people for making objective criticism and recommendations about games they're ravenously biased toward. These people are nuts, and uninformed to say the least.
Either way, the person I quoted thinks dual analog games peaked in the 90's. I struggle to think of a single FPS from the 90's that even used dualies.

The 90's FPS scene was games like Perfect Dark and Goldeneye, single stick. Dualies didn't really hit the market until practically 2000. Maybe 1998 at the soonest? In 2001, Halo reinvigorated the genre with a burst of novelty and freshness (but seems to have since become pretty repetitive to my understanding, unfortunately) with a lot of help from dualies.
So I dunno what this 'Go back and live in the 90's' garbage is all about.
The bottom line is, the dualie option would have helped Kid Icarus, even if only for the people who had complaints. I don't see why that suggestion is being taken as personally offensive to so many people. Seriously, there are far more important things wrong in this world that that absurd level of anger should be going in to.
