Check out this blurb from Criterion's job listing...

“Criterion Games is looking for talented Cinematic Artists to work on the world’s number one, multi award winning, arcade racing franchise,” the adverts’ overview reads. “You’ll be part of the in game Cinematic Team within EA’s BAFTA award winning Criterion Games studio; with responsibility for bringing to life the visceral, brutal car action Criterion is critically acclaimed, trusted and renowned for.”

The listing doesn't say Burnout, but it sure reads like Burnout. One would hope that a new Burnout on 360/PS3 would get some Wii U love as well.

Criterion job listings may indicate a return to Burnout

Burnout 3 and Burnout Revenge were absolutely amazing. I really hope the franchise will make a return, especially on the Wii U!

Burnout 2 on GC was pretty awesome, Burnout Paradise was OVERRATED and a disappointment!

Hopefully a return to proper Burnout, Paradise was decent and all but it wasn't one bit the Burnout I love.

I would love for them to do a Black 2, that was a good FPS that had some good ideas.

I had a lot of good times with Burnout 3. I hope there's a new Burnout for the Wii U that isn't weird XBLA version.

Make it like 2 or 3 and it'll be amazing. 3DS version would be to die for, I really want a handheld racer in that style. Racing against your opponents while regular cars swerve to avoid you is always more fun!

I loved Paradise. So many memories from the multiplayer. I'd like a sequel, but I know that isn't popular
Currently Playing- Wii: Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, 3DS: Super Mario 3D Land, X360: Deus Ex HR

Wasn't Black supposed to be ported to Wii?

Criterion job listings may indicate a return to Burnout

As long as it's like Burnout Revenge, I'm happy. Paradise was pure garbage. The 360 version of Revenge is one of the best racing games ever made. And it still looks amazing, because it's one of the few great racing games on HD consoles that actually runs at 60fps. An absolute rarity these days (even Criterion's own Need for Speed Hot Pursuit only runs at 30fps).

@MrChewtoy

YES, YES, YES! If it's at least as good as Burnout 3 and on the 3DS, then Mario Kart 7 will definitely have some competition in the racing department. :D

Wow, I have been wishing for this! Burnout on WiiU and 3DS would make me SO HAPPY. Which is basically what everyone in here is saying but I'm gonna say it again anyway haha. Please Criterion....

Man, Paradise wasn't classic Burnout but it was still an AWESOME game all the same, especially if you kill the soundtrack it shipped with with fire and use your own music. Flying down the coast to Pharcyde & PUTS was pure greatness. I'd say that while Paradise doesn't even touch most of the games on my personal top 10 list, it's definitely up there in my top 10 in terms of the memories I have of the game, playing that shovel with friends, passing around (among other things) the controller, crashing, getting hella pissed after failed trick runs, etc., all to good old hip hop

Would love to see another Burnout - by far my fave arcade racing series.

But please, no Paradise-ish sandbox design. I know some folks liked it, but it wasn't for me.

For me, Burnout died with 3.

Before 3 the series was all about skillful, dangerous driving... 3 turned it into Michael Bay's Burnout, the actual racing aspect went right out the window, replaced with never-ending, mindless, crashysmashy with an astonishingly shovel soundtrack. Don't get me started on Paradise.
