A brand new Pokemon?!

Postby kingofe3 » 10 May 2012 22:09

I know this sounds crazy, but I actually think we're dealing with a brand new Pokemon! First, anybody remember that Pokemon AR Searcher App? That hidden bird Pokemon shares no similarities with any other bird Pokemon in the series!

http://pokebeach.com/2012/04/nintendo-d ... dex-3d-pro

Every bird Pokemon
http://pokemon.wikia.com/wiki/Category: ... k%C3%A9mon

I don't know about you, but I seriously think so!

Here's a pack of rumors too. Anybody else thinks so?

* The rumored New Pokemon advertised in Movie 15 Merchandise, and the silhouette seen in the AR Reader, is named Toridii (トリディー), with its name written out as ToriD in the magazine in English. It’s a Red and Blue bird-like Pokemon composed of prism-like crystal wings, and is said to be a Dimension Pokemon. The “head” on the silhouette is actually it’s crest, which is a red-and-blue spiral pompadour basically. Electric/Flying, despite its color-scheme.
* ToriD has a cameo appearance in the Meloetta Short, and is apparently the Pokemon responsible for all the old cameo Pokemon appearing…he brings them all together. Players who bring their 3Ds to the movie not only obtain the Giveaway Pokemon Meloetta, but will also be sent a special 3D video focusing on ToriD through SpotPass, said to reveal its secrets.
* There is a special sidequest in Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 involving ToriD and featuring 3D effects, unlocked only when playing the game on a 3Ds system (think the Advanced Shop in the Zelda Oracle games) and by finding ToriD in the AR Searcher. Doing so is required to trade the Pokemon in AR Searcher to Black 2 and White 2.
————
* Homika’s Gym features a rhythm-based mini-game, and it confirms Shizui’s Gym is the one with the lillypads. Homika is confirmed to use Koffing in-game, and Shizui has a Mantine.
* New Grass-type Gym Leader revealed, name is Chisa (チサ). He’s an older guy with wicked sideburns that resemble the Libra Scales, and he’s a prosecutor apparently, involved in a case against the Six Sages from BW. Gym is a courtroom involving judging type match-ups. His main Pokemon seems to be Ferrothorn.
* Old Gym Leaders are returning alongside new ones, shows Chilli, Burgh, and Iris with updated looks. Chilli now is wearing a greaser outfit and has established his own Gym as the three brothers apparently split up. What happened to Cilan and Cress, the magazine asks. Iris is older and more mature looking, fusing her pigtails into one big pony-tail that resembles wings of a dragon. The impression is that she is the Gym Leader in both versions now. Burgh has a top-hat and cane now, Willly Wonka is one way I saw him described, and has opened up an art gallery in Nacrene. Is he now the Gym Leader there? Magazine also shows art of Houndoom, Altaria, and Vespiquen around them, so that’s probably their new Pokemon.

The silhouette looks most like Articuno or Ho Oh, but there are still some things that don't match up 100%. For example, it appears to have claws on its wings or maybe those things are just targets to shoot at? As for the hair that appears to be coming from its head, that could be its tail?

I don't really see Articuno, due to the odd tail position and the wing bumps... theres a rumor going around that its a 6th gen Poke, but I doubt that too...

OK. The mystery has been solved.

"The first image from CoroCoro has leaked out and showcases the first new Pokémon forms revealed. This issue's cover showcases that the Pokémon; Tornadus, Thundurus and Landorus each have new forms. It is currently unknown if these forms feature any new types but they do match the silhouettes from Pokémon AR Searcher shown last month. We'll bring more on this as and when it comes." http://www.serebii.net/index2.shtml

Damn, I didn't expect that. Guess I was wrong. Another new form of a legendary pokemon was unexpected. So, it's Tornadus.

Honestly, we really should have seen this coming...Giratina and Shaymin anyone?

It's too early for sixth gen Pokémon to be shown, and they needed a new legendary-related gimmick for a new round of games this gen.

Im glad to see the first pure-flying type look like a flying Pokemon, lol.

Such a bland and lifeless trio they once were... unless the new forms are all the same AGAIN...

Really? I thought that Gen V has some incredible designs, the best since Gen 1 even, with about half of the legendaries being disappointments. (New Kyurem's look great, IMO)

Gen 4, however... eugh. THAT was bad.

Just the Green one is a bird the blue one is a T-rex like monster and the Orange one is to hard to make out.

The orange one looks like a washed-up grumpy old man, lol
Tornadus looks pretty cool, though, finally... just hope that Thundurus isn't a reskin, which it looks like from that pic...

The green one doesn't sit well with me. It just looks...odd to me.

New Kyurem does look better. :) (No longer looks like a frozen chicken. xD)

I found all Gens 1 - 4 great. I never had a problem with any pokemons looks until this current gen came along. At one point Zekrom looked like a Digimon to me which also didn't sit well with me since they should have that "pokemon" look I look and have found in all previous gens. (o.0)

Zekrom is a manifestation of all that is man-made, contrasting the natural-based Reshiram.

In other words, if it looked like a Digimon: that was the entire point. If you didn't get the Mother 3 vibes from Black and White, then to put it simply: White represents respect for the natural world and tradition, Black represents technology and the artificial. See both versions' Opelucid Cities and each version's exclusive area, for instance.

Ok this info is coming directly from Serebii but this new forms are called "Sacred Beast Forms" they are indeed only available in the 3DS AR game.Their normal form(genie form) is called "Incarnation form"
Tornadus' Sacred Beast Forme focuses on Defense, Speed & Special Defense form is birdlike.
Thundurus' Sacred Beast Forme has increased Special Attack form looks like a T-rex with really small legs or a snake with arms.
Landorus' Sacred Beast Forme has increased Attack form looks like a Big Cat.

An interesting theory I found on a fan site suggests that the Sacred Beast forms are based on Aztec Mythology.
Tornadus is Huitzilopochtli, who after it died became a green and purple hummingbird, Thundurus is Quetzalcoatl, who after it died became a serpent, and Landorus is Tezcatlipoca / Tepeyollotl, a jaguar. This is NOT confirmed by Game Freak/The Pokémon Company but after doing the research it seems to fit in rather well.It actually makes me hope there is an area inspired by Aztec ruins deep in a Jungle like area.

See, while most (not all) legendaries these days look pretty hideous, stuff like that is usually the redeeming factor. At least they have some thought or idea behind it...I hope.

As a side note, there are very few Pokémon whose designs I find unappealing. I actually think, certain legendaries aside, that the quality of the newer Pokémon designs are just as good as they were in the '90s, if not better in some cases.

Far more likely that these are based on the beasts in Chinese and Japanese culture; Bird, Dragon & Tiger. Tortoise is also included in the beasts but isn't one of these

Why is it "more likely" that they would use only three of four Saint Beasts as opposed to referencing Azted Mythology?

Yeah isn't the region based on the Americas?
