Wii U controller image leak - analysis video

Postby ddddd » 19 May 2012 23:28

@AceBandage
You guys made 5 topics of 20000 messages (nearing to a sixth!) on an E3 presentation, I think its fair for them to make a short video of an image

ON: the only thing I would change about this design would be to have the +start button on the other side, for symetry.

NeoGaf isn't very productive in much of their discussions either. Lots of running around in circles without trying to connect some dots.

Example:
Post 6: Miyamoto is making a new IP
Post 13: Retro might be making a new IP

Nobody posts saying 'hey, these might be one and the same.'
Mega Man 9 isn't hard, you're just not paying attention

Well that's silly.
Of course they wouldn't be the same. Miyamoto has already said he's going to be focusing on working with the new blood on small but important projects.

And who's been hiring new people lately? Retro Studios.

I could only imagine Bill trying to translate, to a bunch of people that worked on Uncharted and Darksiders, what Miyamoto is saying about his new underwater mermaid game.

If it controlled like Zora Link from Majora's Mask, I'd be in.

Wii U controller image leak - analysis video

Postby player value » 20 May 2012 01:00

At least, it seems Nintendo has taken into account most of the critics that we could read a few months ago on different medias. I 100/100 trust them when it comes to a controler for a home device and i guess they made the right changes in order to provide the best Nintendo experience.

Wii U controller image leak - analysis video

Postby ryan82 » 20 May 2012 01:39

I'm glad they altered the controller. My only complaint (and its very minor) is that the new controller seems to be wider than the first model. Other than that, I like the (hopefully clickable) thumb sticks, and I like that the home button has a ring of light around it.

I'm extremely satisfied about the analog changes.

I'm not saying any of the previous Nintendo analog sticks were uncomfortable, but the circle pad was by far the most comfy of any Nintendo directional input. It will be missed and I hope this isn't for crap fpses which should use the wiimote anyway

I love GameExplain for this stuff. :D

@AceBandage: Yeah, it's not like there's an 1000+ post thread on NeoGAF about it.

Well. When I was playing OOT3D I did have some issues with the circle pad. I am an avid gamer and my thunb slipped of at some more hectic points. Apart from that it feels nice.... And YES. Wiimote/Nunchuck for FPS games! I so agree!

I like this, but I think that overall, the older design looked better and neater. I don't understand why the analogs were moved farther to the sides (that only made the controller wider), and I prefer the older Start/Select placement to this one. Also, if the squares (or at least one of them) is a Sync button, what the hell are they doing there? Put them on the back of the controller or concealed under some lid.

Okay, I still can't stand that name. I swear, if it ends up being called that, I'll give it a nickname, like UNES or something. UNES is way cooler.

Alright, all of the controller business is making me feel REALLY happy about WiiU. All I need now is a great launch lineup (Pikmin 3 alone would sway me) and a $299 price, and I'll for sure be there day 1.
