Will Wii U FINALLY get us a online Mario Party?

Will Wii U FINALLY get us a online Mario Party?

Postby Einar1025 » 07 Jun 2012 02:31

IDK, but I think thats about the only thing (aside from a new Sonic title, which amazingly has becoming a more interesting series to me then just about everything Nintendo has right now) that could get me excited for Wii U is a NEW AND ONLINE Mario Party. Personally speaking, I think the series should have been online when number 8 came out.

I am dying for an online Mario Party and I HOPE Nintendo will finally do it.

I don't know. This must make me one of the weirdest persons in the site, but I would prefer if the Mario Party series remain for local multiplayer.
My reason is that I think it's more about enjoying the time you spend with your friends near each other than anything else. Sure the minigames are fundamental, and getting stars are as well, but playing with someone distant to you doesn't catch such feeling...

And I won't get to see the faces of people when I steal their stars. Just sayin'.

Uh...voice chat? Wii U video chat? Sure, any game is more fun when you have your friends by your side, but it's more fun to have online rather than playing by yourself against emotion-less computers. And sometimes, Mario Party is just unplayable if you don't have anyone playing with you (To me at least).

Anyways, if the next Mario Party is designed like Mario Party 9, my dreams would be crushed either way.

If voice chat is your answer to everything then sorry but no, just hearing another person is not enough. You may have a friend in Japan that you're playing with but its English is terrible and you won't understand a word of what it says, how are you going to deal with that in like, a 2 vs 2 minigame?
And I know it's horrible to play alone, but then why buying a multiplayer game that is supposed to be played with friends if you have no one to play with? That's just pointless.

some of us live hundreds of miles from our friends, or are grown ups and getting 4 people together is a huge hassle.

do I think party will have online? unfortunately, no I don't. I have a sinking suspicion nintendo is going to miss the boat with online PLAY again.

Voice chat isn't my answer to everything, obviously. I did say video chat as well. And if you have a friend in Japan that has horrible English and you can't really understand them, then how did you even become friends with them in the first place? Plus, the minigames don't require a lot of strategy. It's either you know what to do or be noob. In addition to this, I know that the whole point of Mario Party is to play with friends, but what if there was no one to play with and you really wanted to play some MP? Well, online is your answer, buddy. I don't know why you're so up-tight about this though.

Again, that doesn't work. The only camera the console has is in the Gamepad, and probably you'll use it for most of the games, so you'll just see the face of the person watching at the tv– not even that, maybe you'll just stick with the gamepad playing and you won't have a chance to watch at the other person at all.
It was just a example of distant relationships with language barriers, I can say that someone can have a foreign friend that's good in English but can't speak very fluently. Not strategy, coordination. Most of all, the distance of the emitting and receiving messages and actions in real time can be delayed by either lag or the speed connection of either person. You can say whatever you want about minigames being simple, but if the game asks you for synchronization and coordination then even a bit of a delay of 0.1 seconds is a problem.

Like I said, I may be the strangest person in the site for not wanting this; heck, it would be a dream to have this personally, but I know it has flaws.

I don't really understand though, just to be clear. You would rather Mario party stay local multiplayer then have online and local multiplayer?

Its Nintendo. Consider yourself lucky if the game is at 720p 30fps and has polygons. Online? Dont hold your breath.

For the same reason Nintendo sold SNES' Super Mario All Stars on wii, to print money with little investment. At least NSMB2 has local co-op.

No one's gonna argue local multiplayer isn't fun but online is for those people that have friends that lve far away and none of the people living near them play video games let alone if they did mario party.
Now the problem might be rage quiters but i thnk that as long as two people are playing online that's 10,000x better then playing the a.i

But i think it would be cool if someone dropped out some one else could join n there place and they would have an insentive to do so even if they join as the last place player because when the join maybe they get extra coins,or an creased roll,or they get to battle the first place player in a duel which can help even the odds if they win

Maybe these ideas need some work but even f they try and fail onlne they can try again with the sequel but if think it's silly the won't even try online

I think Nintendo solved the problem to rage quitting a while back by making it so that when a player quits, he is replaced by a computer player. That worked pretty well in brawl (Too bad everything else about the online mode sucked).

I have to agree that Nintendo just doesn't get it when it comes to online play. Not everyone lives with their family or has 3 friends they can conveniently get together to play Mario Party whenever they want to play. Mario Party is a kind of game that doesn't need voice chat either, just throw in 4 random people, let them vote for a board and game mode, and bam. It's not too difficult of a concept, I still don't get why Nintendo doesn't fully embrace the Internet.

well they could put a time limit on how long they have to roll the dice(maybe 1 minute so the can use candies etc) then if they don't the game will roll the dice for them.

An online Mario Party with voice chat would be a nice option for those that want it. If you don't think online play would be useful to you then you don't have to use it. Personally, with 3 other siblings, I've never even thought about online for Mario Party. :P

Like said before, that's not true, but regardless, I want online play for games like this so I can play them with people I know whenever, not just when we all have the time to go over each others place.

I see what you mean, but at the same time I don't think it's a good comparison to make about it not having online multiplayer since it's just an honest to goodness collector's item that's not meant to impress.

Now, if we were talking about a game like New Super Mario Bros. Wii, then yeah, we're on the same page.

I think it's safe to say Mario Party 10 will have online multiplayer. Odds are helped with the inclusion of Miiverse and being the tenth game in the series.

Best Mario Party is local Mario Party, but if Nintendo can't do it for the tenth one, ALL HOPE IS LOST.
