lol, is that guy really serious? Probably the suckiest a-hole yet. I would say more, but I don't think this deserves my attention anyways.

GameTrailers - Worst of E3 2012

Postby Barto » 12 Jun 2012 13:34

I do agree that Nintendo needs to work on their conferences.

This has nothing to do with Wii U, 3DS, games, graphics, online, whatever...but as far as press conferences go...the past 2 E3's have been a bit underwhelming. Maybe they should take a page or two out of apple's book.

@Waluigi
It's mostly just a bunch of swears and immature crap-talking and Nintendo hate. -.-
Even if I agreed with this guy, his behaviour is just plain out terrible. What's wrong with people?

@Barto
The thing that's ruined these past E3's for me, is the lack of good surprises. :( We knew of about 95% of all games that we saw this year. I just don't see why most companies decided to show their games days/weeks before E3.

GameTrailers - Worst of E3 2012

Postby Barto » 12 Jun 2012 13:51

@MasterofMonster

Exactly. When they tease us with games pre-E3 it gets my hopes up that bigger and better things are on the way. Sometimes that's the case...just not this year.

-Microsoft's conference was terrible
-Nintendo's conference was SEVERELY underwhelming when, and considering they have new hardware, they pretty much should've been able to steal the show
-Quantic Dream needs to stop 'just' telling stories and needs to realize they need to take advantage of the actual GAME aspect of the medium. Not just an overly long quicktime event.
-Underage people being allowed into E3 (even though the ESA even has a policy that you have to be ATLEAST 17 to get into the convention). However some execs or celebrities just are able to get in and bring their kid to an event filled with M-rated games and scantily dressed booth babes.
-How Indiecade has almost literally been shoved into a corner this year. They have no more than 12 machines, and are given no spotlight even though that's where games like Fez or Braid had been discovered. Even the developers of Hawken (which has gotten INCREDIBLY high praise) didn't even get onto the showfloor because the rent is too high, and are instead having to rent out a hotel room.
-LA may perhaps force E3 out of the convention center, meaning the ESA may have to go somewhere else.

GameTrailers - Worst of E3 2012

Postby DatBeastard » 12 Jun 2012 13:59

Alright, I don't really agree with his opinion on Nintendo (it was underwhelming but not as much as I think he's stating) and I'm surprised he classified Sony's Wonderbook as a "pass", but his opinion on Indiecade and the Indie industry itself I agree with 100%. We need to support these guys or else we'll have the same games regurgitated each year.

GameTrailers - Worst of E3 2012

Postby Hawk » 12 Jun 2012 14:02

I pretty much agree with guy. Nintendo was such a letdown this year, at a time when they REALLY needed to get people riled up over the WiiU. The crazy thing is that MS and Sony has really lackluster conferences, and Nintendo still managed to be more boring.

I literally made a checklist of things I was hoping for from E3, and Nintendo missed EVERY ONE OF THEM.

@MasterofMonster

It doesn't take "Nintendo hate" to make those observations. Even a lifelong Nintendo fan can see that Nintendo grossly underperformed this year. I'm inclined to believe the rumors that they pulled out a big game reveal last-minute, because it would explain the long boring portions like Sing and the Luigi's Mansion minigame from Nintendo Land.

GameTrailers - Worst of E3 2012

Postby Taxidous » 12 Jun 2012 14:11

I think Nintendo had a handful of decent announcements this year, but none of them were in the press conference where they needed to be. Things like: FE3D coming to America, Wii downloads able to be converted to Wii U, ZombiU being a launch title, 2-player option in NSMB2, Project P-100 should have all been put up front and center.

I feel like Nintendo's last two conferences were targeted at mainstream media, like NY Times and the like. The obvious problem with that being that they aren't the ones that really care very much about Nintendo going-ons.

GameTrailers - Worst of E3 2012

Postby jasonmaivia » 12 Jun 2012 15:18

@Meelow100
That's the problem. This was the perfect time to announce a price and date, especially since Nintendo's had everyone's attention. Why would you hold off on important information when you're at the largest center for electronic entertainment and just a few months away from launch?

To make matters worse, Nintendo didn't show many games that would make Wii U the system of choice. Until we start to see more third party support (we still have Tokyo Game Show), not too many gamers, including many Nintendo fans, are particularly interested in buying their next machine.

That's not Nintendo hate.

Nintendo has made some really dumb decisions recently...

"That's the problem. This was the perfect time to announce a price and date, especially since Nintendo's had everyone's attention."

So you're saying Nintendo won't have everyones attention, when they hold they're own press event for launch info? When all eyes are on them, and them alone? Sure E3 is a big deal, but Nintendo just doesn't announce date, and price at E3 anymore. They haven't done it since GC in 2001, and they ended up changing the date for the GC later on, so that's probably why they don't do it anymore. They didn't do it for DS, Wii, or 3DS, so why would people expect them to do it for Wii U? They'll give the date, and price at their own event in August/September, because the systems coming out in October, or November, so they really can't wait any longer than that!

Ya the conference was not that great and all, but seriously. How come those little kids get to go to E3 and other people who have a desperate desire to go can not? I mean I would pay to get some passes and these kids get in free. And since I live in L.A I really do want to say something to keep E3 here. As much as I would like to have a football team I don't really want to kick out E3 because of it. And besides The Lakers, Clippers and the USC Trojans are good enough for me.

Agreed

And since nintendo themselves dont appear at the TGS third party will only be present there, so we will have to wait for nintendo's expected fall conference to learn anything more, but really this was their time to shine and they didnt.

Shows at E3 usually grabs the attention of gamers of many kinds, including PS3 and Xbox fanboys.
A Nintendo-only even will probably get the attention of mostly Nintendo gamers, while most others who aren't following Nintendo will be busy playing their other consoles and/or awaiting new announced titles for their system of choice.

For many gamers, they've already made up their minds about the Wii U, and what they've shown didn't impress. They've seen the console, but not many interesting games. Do you think most of them will be interested in a Nintendo-exclusive conference outside other big shows, like TGS and E3?

Since when is Nintendo creating their own press conference later on? Don't remember them saying that. But this guy was right. Like he said on his twitter, "only Nintendo can make one of the greatest launch lineup seem boring".

Nintendo's conference wasn't THAT bad. We got Pikmin, more ZombieU, Rayman etc.... MS was a disaster though, and Sony started out pretty good with theirs but it also turrned very lame very fast. Ubisoft did a great show though.
