ScrewAttack - Best and worst of E3 2012

Postby Chased » 17 Jun 2012 02:32

Placing Smartglass in the BEST list and placing the E3's surprises in BEST No.1 when there were NONE, made this list horrible!

At least, I can agree with the "top5 of the Worst" list.

Nintendo's was worst. Stop making excuses for them. The others weren't introducing a new console. And it was worst than 2008 as well. 2008's conference matter a jot, they we're at the height of their success. This conference on the other hand, single-handedly killed off an whole year's worth of hype. People who were definitely buying the console, suddenly found themselves on the fence. What did 2008's do? Or Sony's and MS's conference?

A conference that could in all likelihood negatively impact the sales of the Wii U is a terrible conference.

So can one that talks about nothing but apps and Kinect, while showing demos of really generic games.

Again, Nintendo's was bad sure, but MS's was much worse.

And no, it's not even close to 2008 bad.

ScrewAttack - Best and worst of E3 2012

@cbbomb

Not making excuses. There is no need to. Try objective criteria, like out of the very few surprises of this E3, how many were on Nintendo platforms? Or Which conference had more actual announcements or very first look at games than just new trailers of already announced stuff?

Hell the fact that they were showing the hardware in more details single handedly makes this conference worth our attention.

When trying to see who did best, criteria such as "only stuff that I like count" are irrelevant. Or the other solution would be just to realise how stupid it is to designate a "winner" when it doesn't mean anything anyway and..... oh well forget it -_-'

You know I get why some of you would be content with Nintendo's e3 showing this year. Especially if you didn't go into it with crazy expectations like some of us. Mostly it's just about knowing what the Wii U is bringing to the table, right? And we do, it's lineup is pretty impressive and the controller has lots of potential, we know this because we're gamers who scour the internet for news on that sort of shovel.

but not everyone is like that. That's where Nintendo failed, man. Look at e3 06. Yeah, e3 was a whole different ballgame back then but Nintendo knew how the fark to present their new device. They knew how to create buzz and hype and excite both the gamer audience and the non-gamer audience... and investors too. Do any of you really feel like they even remotely accomplished that with their Wii U unveiling like they did with the Wii? They kind of just presented the bare minimum, you know, some OS features, scant 3rd party titles, a single anticipated 'core' offering for U, and a bunch of guaranteed 'make our investors and our pockets happy' games. Like Mario. And, uh, Mario. And Paper Mario. They even made sure to mention how this console was gonna be a new disruption to the industry just like the Wii, but if it weren't for Microsoft pimping Smart Glass this year I wouldn't have even been convinced.

Well, the good thing is that Nintendo is pretty self-aware these days so if it wasn't already their plan to do this (and I'm pretty sure it was), I expect they're just gonna host their own show or a Nintendo Direct conference before the console launches that showcases the non-launch window titles (like Retro's title that allegedly wasn't ready for a full unveiling and had to be pulled from the conference lineup, for example).

ScrewAttack - Best and worst of E3 2012

Postby Crow » 17 Jun 2012 15:15

What the hell? How the hell did sony do best?

I watched all of e3 with some friends, the point being to have a laugh at all the incredibly embarrassing things it had to offer. While nobody liked the nintendo conference (save for that zombiu trailer) and while we didnt find it to be the best...it was the least horrible.
Sony wasnt as bad as microsoft, but when they werent looking like morons, they spent that time looking like assholes.
I guess if youre the kind of guy that gets excited that big daddy will be in a smash bros ripoff (that you could probably find for free on newgrounds RIGHT NOW) then its cool, but wtf.
Sony's press conference was what?
-Books
-Movies that are kinda interactive (dont even call david cage's crap games, HE doesnt even call them games)
-more Movies and TV (announcements for hulu and all that)
-God of this game never changes
-Please buy our ripoff of an internet service, well give you 3 games that cost us nothing to distribute
-phooooooooones

heres what was new/related:
-black ops on vita (wow, so surprising, no gameplay even shown)
-AC on vita (^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^)

And finally, heres what wasnt completely stupid:
-Uncharted 4

Its like youre all giving sony credit just because you want to look impartial on a nintendo site. Sony's showing was horrible, all the showings were horrible. I feel like there have been too many bad e3s for you to remember what a good showing is. By the standards of whats good and bad that I see every year, nintendo "won" the big 3, simply for being the only one who showed games

Doesnt matter though, Ubisoft dominated e3 with ease.
