Do you use Folders on your 3ds?

Postby dkanddiddy » 12 Jul 2012 22:05

I use them. I have three folders:

Games: for all my virtual console games, Dsi Ware games, etc.
Apps: for applications like Swapnote, Nintendo Video, etc.
Videos: for my game trailers and E3 videos

I have a friend who downloaded the recent update, but still didn't know the folders existed, so I'm interested to see if anyone uses them.

I also use them. I was so happy when we got them because it was getting really difficult to navigate the menu. My folders are labeled as the following:

-Zelda
-NES
-GBA
-Gameboy
-Dsi/3DS
-Trailers

Anyone notice that when you have a folder highlighted (not opened) the folder icon will spin when you blow into the microphone? Such a silly little touch that makes me love Nintendo all the more. ;D

I don't really use them, I like to see all the icons on the main screen. I just like the look of the icons better than folders. I just have them all sorted out in my own way so I can find what I want easily. I do have one that I use for Demos though.

Yeah, pretty much any icon spins when you blow into it.

I use them, but I hate the single character allowed on the front of the folder icon's face. Every title for my folders starts with a space, so all of the folders appear blank. Don't know why I hate the lack of options for customization, but what are you going to do....

I have things organized as follows:

• NES (obvious)
• Game Boy (for all GB/GBC/GBA games)
• eShop (for 3DS eShop games)
• The Rest (for apps/stuff that doesn't belong in other folders)

Yes, it is much easier to find everything when they are in folders. Same with my iPod Touch as well. Instead of having very small icons you can barely see on the 3DS you can have nearly full sized ones. Instead of scrolling through 10 pages on your iPod you can just have folders. Folders fix everything!

I personally use them, it lightened the screen and gave my games nice little spots to stay organized.

No sir I don't like them. I have all the built in software as far to the left, then I got the apps and then I got all my games in alphabetical order. The real question is does anyone keep there Activity Log alphabetized? Cause I do...

Yes. I only have two though.

One is for excess App things. The other is for Demos.

I have a lot of my Apps still out though simply because my Home Menu looks naked without them. As it fills up with eShop/VC titles, I will move the Apps into the folder. Right now it looks haphazard, because the only games I have on it are Metroid 2, Pokedex 3D (if you can call that a game) and Mario vs. DK (and soon, Mighty Switch Force).

Not really as of this point in time simply because I haven't downloaded enough virtual console or eShop games to need to sort them into folders. However, I do have one that I made to just test out the feature.

I just deleted the Demos and the Demo folder. So now there's just one Folder, and it's just for excess stuff.

Made room for Mighty Switch Force. YEAH.

I kind of hated having so many icons on the screen, so when folders came out, I managed to get everything down to just six-slots on the main page, one for the Game Card, one for eShop, one for the Settings icon that can't be moved, and three folders. The first is where I put all VC/ambassador-related games, the second has all of my DSiWare and eShop games/game-app(Pokedex 3D), and the third is basically all of the app stuff that I typically don't use, like Nintendo Video and Swapnote, stats, Download Play, the few demos I WANTED to keep, etc etc etc.

I use the little symbols for the folder icons, square, diamond, and circle, which makes them a little more interesting than just having a letter on them.

I would have used them if they included better customization, like more than one character or icons like a Gameboy or an NES. Right now I only have one for demos and trailers.

Just one folder for now, a "Games" folder since I do have a lot of downloadable games (thanks especially to being a 3DS Ambassador for it's 20 free games).

Whether I'll use more folders remains to be seen.

How do you do that? D:

In the album, you just tap and hold an icon so that it becomes removed from its spot (like in the 3DS Home Menu), allowing you to drag it to another spot so that it swaps with the other.

My entire Activity Log album is alphabetized.

I actually did end up figuring this out on my own, but I am glad it was addressed. I felt stupid when I did it.

I wound up moving all pre-installed stuff (except StreetPass Mii Plaza) to the last page and all my games just sit on the front in a changing order. I don't have enough things to really figure out a specific order for them. There are only like 8 things (including StreetPass and Pokedex 3D), so I just have them in order of favorites and Retail first and DSiWare 2nd and then eShop or something. Eventually it will get reorganized.
