Rumor: Slim Xbox 360 Coming in 2009

Postby Ghnvt3 » 28 Sep 2008 21:56

Joystiq has posted a rumor about the slim xbox 360. The rumor is about an event in India where it was "confirmed" that a slim xbox 360 with be announced this December. I can see this happening because the 360 sure is a beast, but I don't think it is a must. Can't imagine myself buying one of these. What do you guys think?

I usually wind up buying handheld redesigns, but console redesigns? Nah.

What Microsoft really needs to do is squash the RROD issue for good. That's more important than a "slim" 360.

I think that is the plan.

I agree . This is the only thing that's really holding me back from buying an Xbox 360 (after all my Xbox hating) . I did buy the ps2 redesign, but that's because I usually wait ti'll the system is in like 3 to 4 years of it's life span, so there's games to play and bugs and crap have been taken care of .

RROD is basically extinct now with the new models. And many of the best games are really cheap.

That's what Microsoft has said with each new revision to the 360, so I remain skeptical. I just saw a picture on IGN the other day where they had 3 of the things boxed up and sitting in a big pile, ready to be shipped back. I'm on my second 360 myself.

Even if the problem is now "fixed", which I don't think it is, the damage has been done. The 360 has a reputation for being unreliable. Even people who don't know much about consoles think that the 360 is a lemon.

It's a shame because the 360 has a great selection of games, and as you said, many of them can be had pretty cheaply nowadays.

The only thing that might make me think twice about buying a new 360 would be if they promised that it somehow corrected all of it's problems. I hate having to worry whether or not my system will blow up every time I turn it on.
