XBLA is getting megaman 9 tomorrow. I am not getting it because hard games frustrate the hell out of me. Anyone going to download this retroness. I might try the demo, that is it.

i downloaded the demo on ps3 tonight, and gave it a run. actually, make that a dozen runs. jebus effing crikey i couldn't delete that fast enough. i'm not sure if the concrete man stage is supposed to be the easiest or hardest in the game, but my first set of lives.. i didn't even make it to the first ladder. every run after that basically involved me dying at those bleeding elephants.

my basic rule of thumb is: if i can't beat something after about four tries--it's not designed very well, because i have great hand-eye coordination and am a very fast learner.

i know some people love cheap, frustrating gameplay, but not me. this game can rot in hell. i really wanted to love it, because 8-bit is my true love, and mega man is a veritable symbol of that era. oh well. at least i still have the ten bucks i didn't spend on it.

I sort of agree with cort...I downloaded the demo on PSN last night and gave up after a couple of restarts. No way in hell do I have the patience for games like Mega Man 9 these days. I loved the Mega Man series as a kid, and I really like what Capcom has done with MM9 with regards to the graphics and the music. But it's just not for me.

I guess I was just more "hardcore" back when I was a kid and I had unlimited amounts of time to throw away on ridiculously difficult, cheap-death games. Nowadays I have maybe one or two hours a night - if I'm lucky - or a few hours on the weekends to set aside for gaming, and I can't afford to waste it on frustratingingly hard games.

I bought it, just not for the 360. You'd have to be out of your mind if you think you could do decent playing an 8bit MegaMan game with the 360 controller. I prefer the VC controller/Wiimote sideways for 2D games, so it was an obvious choice for me... even if Im missing out on achievements.

Maybe not "less hardcore", youve probably just softened up playing all the easy current gen stuff. I havent played a game I cant beat in a very long time, and I actually dont like that. I dont feel that sense of reward after completing an insanly difficult level that Ive been stuck on for days anymore. I can just breeze through a game in a couple of days, if that.

Gaming, why are you such a pansie now?
