...bare, and this isn't regional..but world freaking wide and I wait 30 minutes and no one shows up, now I'll give it another chance, perhaps no one was playing because they were watching the '08 election results, but still is the Wi-fi play is always this empty? Did I bought this game too late?

i haven't played its wi-fi in a couple months, but it was pretty good when i did. some people were pushovers, some were a little challenging. if you were playing last night, shame on you. :-P

but i would try another time, or start with trading FC with some people to fill in the dead zones on WFC.

I got bored of it after a couple of matches. I never had to wait very long for competition though. Maybe you're just trying at bad times?

That's one of the small problems with releasing small games with wi-fi: it will be popular and have lots of people online in the first month, but then people will just move on to the next one and the next. First it was this, then Bomberman Blast, and then Tetris.
Players will slowly migrate from one to the other.
Game like Tetris Party may be able to extend it's life though by including it's tournaments and world rankings. These are things that make the games fresh.
This is also why SSB:Brawl isn't so popular online (besides the lag issue). A few new stages don't cut it enough to make the experience fresh everytime you start it up. A leader board would have kept the game on the top of the wi-fi charts.

Humorously, I first read the subject of this thread as "wow, Dr. Mario Online Rx worldwide wi-fi is fun."

I haven't played the online mode in the game since October 13th :P lost interest in the game after a bit. maybe I'll pick it up again later on.

As for dead zones in the wi-fi, you may want to give verizon a call.

Really? because my issue is the lag. It's HORRIBLE. Brawl's gameplay is ridiculously replayable. People STILL play Melee, after all, 7 years later. Brawl could have been Wii's Halo, but its online unfortunately sucks balls. :(
Mario Kart Wii has seen more success, and I'm sure part of this is the tournaments and the different online modes and options, but for me it's honestly more because it freakin' WORKS generally well, ya know?

I played this game online a couple months after it came out and it was fun enough. Tetris Party I only just got about two months ago and found online matches pretty easily...

I admit, it's kind of hard. I kind of wish games like this advertised, like, "gathering" times when they encouraged people, in-game, to get online to play. Just an idea, but I think it could work pretty well.
Making a meager living selling games, writing about games, and writing fiction.
Can't complain about that!
