If there was a Pushmo stage, it should be more like PictoChat. Not a scrolling level. That doesn't even make sense since there's a specific size restriction. So it'd just be a New Pork City/Hyrule Temple level.

I agree with the sentiment about the scrolling stages, I've always hated those myself.

But I don't think I'd want the stage to be as big as Temple or New Pork City. Have you ever tried seeing what's going on when playing on a small TV? It's pretty hard/annoying, especially if everyone's spread out. And the size of those stages makes it near impossible to quickly KO anyone, slowing down matches by quite a bit.

That + gimmicks? No thanks.

Yeah the scrolling stages were cheap, imo. Stages like Temple and the New Pork City are also annoying, and yes, I know what you mean by saying that it's hard to see on a small TV. Really irritating. It's like they combined 3 small stages and pushed it into one big stage. The red dragon thing that would appear randomly in the NPC stage is always easy to avoid since it only goes around a small section of the stage at one time and sometimes I think to myself if it was really worth it to add that in since it's so easy to avoid. (kinda repeated myself there at the end, but to busy to fix it :P

Well
You can choose not to play on those stages, and you can also take them off from the Random feature.

I know those are your likings, but I really prefer if they were that big or are scrolling. Small stages like... the return of Onett in Brawl were too small, it felt really cramped. Big stages are really good for exploration and when there are 4 people playing and you want to be away from a 1 on 1 fight you can just go to the other side of the stage.
The Ultimate Chimera can be easily avoided, but the inclusion was okay and fun. You can throw your opponent towards it and have it finished off for you. And come on, the main fun of scrolling stages is that if you can't keep up you get k.o.'ed, if you're so serious about a fight these stages aren't for you, but they can give you a laugh or two at the funny deaths you can get.

This. I hated how they changed the size of Sector Z from 64 to Corneria on Melee, it went almost immediatly from one of my most played stages to one where I play the least, Brawl's Corneria seems to be an exception, though, and I'm not really sure why.

Yeah wasn't it the only 'gimmick' in the stage? Except for the limo occasionally going by? I can't remember a thing...And yes, I do agree with you that they are fun when playing with friends to get the laugh of it, but when your playing against cpu's, which is 90% of the time for me, it takes away that laughter. The other feature of the stage is the breakable platform at the bottom center that looks like a door if you look from the top. Too bad most people can't get around to play with others nowadays huh?

Oh, I'd like to point out that I don't *want* Pushmo to be a huge stage like Temple/NPC. Just used that as an idea for what would make more sense if you wanted to go 'up' on it, than a scrolling stage. I would rather a *large* stage, than a *scrolling* stage.

I would prefer it to be the size of PictoChat, though.

In Melee, I loved Temple and my friends and I actively played 4 player matches on stock on Temple to create more of a chasing game than a fight and it was fun. New Pork City wasn't nearly as fun to play, at all. I love some of the music, but the stage itself is just annoying. I hate that they ONLY use that in Classic Mode for Ness/Lucas. There's no reason that they shouldn't be able to use Onett to switch it up.

Oh god. Yeah, I mean, I wasn't the biggest fan of Sector Z in the first place, but Corneria is way too small for the way it's set up. And Venom is awful.

As far as Pushmo goes for stages, yeah I can agree with a large one. Though honestly, much like the option of custom music, it wouldn't hurt to have scrolling stages. Often found myself to use them against my brother since he'd often hold out in the caverns beneath Hyrule Temple. Prolonging our fights to no end, at least this way he's forced to keep moving.

But as far as large stages go, I embrace them with a different tactic. Usually they're involved in a high-frequency item drop to encourage long range warfare among friends. It's just the option to have when left with an option of sized arenas.

Recently picked up The Legendary Starfy for DS, there is a whole world where you are exploring sunken ships and the whole time in the background you being stalked by a giant shark that will swim up and eat you unless you are behind a mast-In which case it slams into the mast and swims away. If you do get eaten by the shark you have to navigate through it's stomach until you find an exit.
I think this could be a cool idea for a stage only thing is it's underwater. Granted we've had stages in space and the physics stayed the same so maybe physics don't matter.

It's like I'm really playing Worms.

And I have no problem with the concept of moving stages. I just think they've all been terrible.

On that note, I'd also like to say I completely forgot about 75m when talking about how crappy large stages can be.

75m is simply the worst stage I've ever experienced in the series. I forgot it was even there. I turned the song off *and* the stage as soon as possible.

This. Very much so.

I also hate the Mario Bros. stage, mostly because of the overpowered enemies. I remember thinking how awesome a stage based on that game would be, then they make it happen. And now I avoid it like the plague.

I always thought it would be cool if moving off the sides of the stage would cause you to loop around to the other end...making star KO's the key to victory. But I can see how that maybe wouldn't work as well in practice as it sounds on paper.

Anyway...if they happen to bring it back, or make another stage like it, they should at least tone down the killing power enemies have.

I'm not sure how you can feel that way. At all.

75m is enormous, more hazards, you can just walk off the stage, it's hard to maneuver and it's got bad music.

New Pork City is designed way better and the only actual hazard isn't even that bad or annoying and you know, it's a real level, designed to be played on.

Yeah, I actually love the concept of Mario Bros., but the enemies are way too powerful and you can die/kill way too easily if you get hit by/throw an enemy hazard. Or even get hit by one, making it a terrifying stage in some modes.

And the looping would've been great. Missed opportunity for that and Game & Watch stages.

I agree, 75m was just bad. And is it just me or does anyone else hate the Metroid stages?

Although, I have to disagree with the music being bad. There were 3 songs to the stage and I liked them except for the one that just goes: Du du na na. Du du na na. Over and over and over. Never listened to it long enough to see if it does anything else but gaaaawwd.

I wouldn't say 75m was bad, but it was definitely one of the stages I disliked. It was definitely enjoyable as a "fun" stage when playing with 4 friends. And about Metroid, I never hated those stages, but I never really liked them. Good music though.

The music wasn't BAD other than that one (the original DK music I think you mean? I turned that off immediately. It never changes), but mediocre compared to the others.

As for hate the Metroid stages? Not particularly.

I love the Frigate Orpheon stage (or whatever the Prime one was) and I like Norfair aside from the stage hazard.

But I love the Prime level like nobody's business.

I'm sort of on the fence with that. Even if it is just a fantasy, amusing as it is as a whole.

I think it's cause of Sakurai condemning guns of any realistic fashion ages ago, stays pretty stuck in my head to a point I cannot physically imagine it.
