I feel sad everytime I look at my Gamecube because it is largely unappreciated. But then I think "Hey, there is a Gamecube inside every Wii being bought." So I think it got its deserved audience after all, if only in spirit.
I'm insane, I know.

I don't have a lot of games for it, but the ones I do have have gotten a *lot* of playtime.

I love it and even though I have a Wii, I won't sell it. Ever.

Well GTA is mature lol. Im not going to diss the PS2, ill be honest with you, if your the normal gamer last generation and only could have one system id point your way to the PS2. As many good games as there were for the Gamecube alot of mutliplatform games were gimped on it. The exclusives is what made the gamecube good.I have so many PS2 games i still need to get....

Androo wrote:I owned the PS2. I won't diss it. I'm dissing GTA. It's probably the series I hate the most. And GTA is not mature at all. It's the most childish crap I've ever seen.
Even though I sold my PS2 to fund for a Wii I still own the best two games that came out for it - Shadow of the Colossus and FFX.

It just did so many things right, and deserved much better treatment from the ignorant third parties trying to squeeze it out. It was the cheapest console by far on release, was incredibly durable (so nobody had to buy two) and the only one built with no agenda but gaming in mind. The launch games were far and away the best of the bunch and still worth playing now, Rogue Squadron 2 still blows (all) PS2/ (most) XBox and unfortunately most Wii games out the water on a purely technical level.
The Cube was arguably the most powerful, with far superior architecture and less bottlenecks than the old Xbox and easier to program for, and had a brilliantly comfortable controller with some level of ergonomics behind it...
The first party stuff was standout as always. The local multiplayer experience was easily the best (with 4 ports as standard...); and the Gamecube played host to many of the best third party games (even if overall the support was terrible), the POP games for example were horribly glitchy on other systems, and the Cube controller just handled platformers better in my opinion. Even though it came in third place, it stuck it out till the end.
So glad the Wii is caning everyone, tis glorious Gamecube architecture back from the dead.

What a fantastic first post. I agree with everything, including the amazing technical feat of Rogue Squadron 2.

My gamecube can no longer read discs anymore, its sad but i have a 2nd one laying around. I really like the gamecube controller but i had many people think it was horrible, i think they were all just too used to the PS2 controller. Its sad that we see better looking gamecube games then Wii games :<

I mean, going off the 'it's cool to be different' policy, it was awesome. Sadly the novelty eventually wore off and I kinda thought the PS2 had more good games on it.
Having said that though I have very fond memories of the Cube. Despite missing; Pikmin 1 & 2, Metroid Prime 1 & 2, WindWaker, Resident Evil 4, Tales of Symphonia and Killer7, I still has some awesome times.
All in all, it wasn't a bad system.

Sigtaro wrote:I still feel pretty good about it. When people complain of online I realized for me that most of the online games I enjoyed are still PC exclusive. All it takes is one or maybe two online games that can last me over a generation to make me happy. I won't get specific on that since it would be better on another thread. Another complaint I had was the lack of RPGs. I thought PS2 and PC did a better job of two types of RPGs, eastern and western. Other than those two problems I enjoyed more games on it than the other two consoles combined.
