Anyone esle catch wind of this game? For those that haven't here's the trailer released today:

I think it looks really cool. The more RPGs on Wii the better I say! :D

Here's the preview on IGN btw. They have some screens there too.

P.S At 0:54 is that... a GIANT ENEMY CRAB!?

It really came out of nowhere, didn't it? I'm looking forward to it. Any RPG addition to the WIi library is a good thing.

Especially if it's an action RPG like it seems like it might be!

looks like FF12 to me, and I mean that in a good way, looks good to me.

I admit, I do much prefer turn based battles. This still looks really awesome though. The graphics certainly aren't bad.

Looks like it has potential. It has me interested if only because the battle system looks MMO-based.

Well, the trailer kinda looks like it might be some sort of blend between a turn-based RPG and an Action RPG. The combat looks a little slow to be an ARPG.

Also, there really is a lack of turn-based 3D RPGs for consoles lately, so I really wouldn't mind if this turns out to be more turn-based than ARPG.

It definitely looks good, and does seem to have two different types of gameplay. Some action, as well as some turn-based. I would love to see more!

whose making it and is there any sort of presser about it? It'd be nice to get some more info.

We have Arc Rise, which looks good, but yeah I'm not sure of anything else. Ah well, an ARPG is hardly a bad thing. And anyway the DS more than satisfies my old-school RPG cravings lol.

It's being published by Nintendo, but they haven't revealed the developer yet. Nor any release dates/ time frames either to my knowledge.

Nintendo? really? Was it in the Press conference? I feel so out of the loop here, you'd think Nintendo might've pushed this a bit more, like Golden Sun. Maybe it's the Baten Kaitos/Disaster guys, Nintendo bought them, i believe.

Wasn't in the press conference no, though yeah you'd have thought they'd have announced it during Reggie's RPG section. I just checked the details over on IGN and they listed Nintendo as the publisher but everything else was TBA. Could be Monolith though, they were said to be working on a "hardcore RPG" after Disaster finished and they are now a second party. So who knows.

Yeah, what you said. The battle system doesn't look quite frenetic enough to be typical real-time combat. Which is perfectly fine with me as I'm a turn-based guy.

This game looks pretty good. It sure came out of nowhere - wonder who's developing? I was thinking Monolith.

That is one bigass sword the main character's toting around. Do his legs look kinda funny during the run animation to anyone else, or is it just me?

Confirmed, it is Monolith's RPG. Shame it wasn't announced in the press conference though. Even a little bits of the trailer, I mean why show off parts of an already released trailer about an already announced game (FF:CC) when you could show off a brand new title by your own second party?

I knew it reminded me of Baten Kaitos for some reason. Too bad tri-Ace isn't involved. Or are they?

Dunno why they wouldn't show this off - maybe because they have no intention of releasing it stateside? Of course, last year they totally ignored Madworld, so I dunno. Sometimes Nintendo doesn't make any sense.

Now on topic, I watched the trailer for the game yesterday on the Nintendo Channel, and the game actually has me interested. I've never really played a RPG, never played a Final Fantasy game for more than 5 minutes(I know horror of horrors), but I've always wanted to try them, just never have.
That being said, maybe it's time I start and actually try some Final Fantasy's or Tales of Symphonia, or maybe this when it's released...it does look interesting.

Okay, wow, Nintendo is just taking a huge shovel on Monolith lately, not releasing Disaster here, letting their kickass=looking RPG slide under the radar, ugh, it annoys me.

Oh awsome its getting made by Monolith. Get ready for it to NOT be releaed in america. Seriosuly, look at it. It looks exactly like the type of game for Nintendo of America to not care about. Monolith haven't had any of thier titles brought to america, other then super robot taisen whcih isnt published by nitnendo, Since Nintendo purchased them.

Ugh Nintendo makes me mad when it comes to Monoliths games...I'm a monolith fanboy...I is so sad lol

Jeebus, you've never played a RPG? Man, I can recommend about a dozen or so games you should play if you really want to try out the genre. Depending on what style of game you like, Final Fantasy or the ToS series might not be the way to go - and the FF games vary in style a whole lot depending on if you play an older game or one of the more recent ones. If you like real-time combat and a faster paced action RPG, then you'll enjoy stuff like ToS, Rogue Galaxy and Final Fantasy XII. If you want old-school RPGs, or turn-based combat, you'll need to look elsewhere.

If you want to specifically get a feel for Monolith I suggest checking out Baten Kaitos 1&2. Those games both have a kinda weird real-time card-battling combat system, but it's pretty fun once you get the hang of it.

Looks really sweet, I'm really into RPG's, and FINALLY Wii is getting some good ones.

The only thing that concerns me is that Monolith is making it, and the US didn't get Disaster, so if Reggie "doesn't like" Monado, that means we aren't getting it.

The fact that it wasn't announced at Nintendo's Conference when they were being all, "See? We're gonna hook you up with some sweet RPG's!" worries me as well...

This looks great. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Monolith Soft the developers who also made Disaster: Day of Crisis?

If that's the case, then this is a Day 1 purchase. I really, really enjoyed that game. I never played Baten Kaitos on the GC, but it always looked very appealing.

My guess is that it wasn't up to snuff for the Nintendo of Japan execs. I know it was a US conference, but NOJ has the final say on what gets shown...especially this game, since it would probably get a Japanese release, and then see a translation if the sales were there.

It looks nice, but it will look better before it's released. Also, it is a niche game. If it is turn based at all, that means a very small crowd would buy it. These games don't sell very well, and Nintendo has all but abandoned advertising or promoting these games. Casuals would never pick it up, and the traditional gamer doesn't need any advertising to know that it exists.

Just my guess on why it wasn't shown....
