Before the DS came out it was under assumption that the DS was going to be it's own system and the Gameboy series of portable consoles was still going to continue on. (Meaning that we would have to buy two different portable systems each.) Since then the DS has become a success.

What would you rather the next portable system from Nintendo be called? I'd prefer the Gameboy moniker for nostalgic value.

It's going to be an entirely new name.

Definitely a new name, but I have to feel that it is going to have some sort of support for DS as well (like the first DS's had GBA slots). I wouldn't be surprised if it had support for GB/GBC/GBA games too through the wanted "Virtual Console (Handeld?)" service.

i think it would be terribly clever if they announced the DSi successor as the... DSii

or the DScube. but i have a feeling that might not be the most comfortable system to hold or carry in a pocket.

I really don't care what they name it.
But Game & Watch doesn't make sense unless it has a clock that you can switch to at any time.

I'm not sure next-gen technology could handle that so... probably right.

I'd like something new, but something that will carry on - if you get me. So a new name for a series of portables (like GameBoy before-hand). I get the nostalgic value of the old name, but I kinda like it cut off now. It's nice leaving it to its own little era.
