Excite Bike: World Rally

This is out of no where, but I am very... excited about the multi-player Excitebike that I wanted to play ever since I heard about VS. Excitebike. I am getting the for sure.

Nintendo? Good online? =V

Seriously though, I'm interested on how well Nintendo handles this updated remake. I do want a level editor, a GP race mode, a time trials mode, a stunt mode, and a battle mode.

I'm really excited about this game. I love Excite Truck; it's up in my top 5 games of all time.
I had an interesting experience with the original Excitebike; I started gaming with the Genesis, and it wasn't until maybe the N64 generation that I played the game. I played it on several occasions, yet I never knew about the main mechanic; landing flush to the ground to maintain speed. So I would lose. Every. Time. And I never hated the game, interestingly. It wasn't until after Excite Truck came out that I learned that the "landing flush" mechanic existed in the original game.

Day one purchase for me. Though I have my fingers crossed it won't be 1000 points (I doubt it though), since I haven't tried the original since I learned the point of it, so I may not love it.

Well, my response to most of this is: Monster Games handled it (the game is completely done), and as far as I heard, they did a good job with Excitebots online. As I said earlier, I didn't play much of the original, but what do you mean by a battle mode? Like, what would that involve? Running the other guys over?

You're on the right track. But I'm thinking something like demolition derby styled. Or if not, then maybe when you hit somebody, their engine gauge will become hotter. Once their gauge maxes out on heat, they're out of the battle. Something like that.

LOVE Excitebots, personally. Not big on Excitebike but I'm planning on DLing it on Day 1 for review ASAP.

So whoever else is getting it, we should stick all of our friend codes up and get some multiplayer action going on -- besides, it'll help me out with the review, too. ;)

Man. I'm almost glad now that WiiWare never gets release day info until like a day before the releases.
It's driving me crazy waiting for this; I've already got 1100 points set aside for the game (so) fingers crossed it isn't more than that.

Oh, and incase someone gets to a computer before I do, make sure to inform the feedback goers (on the inevitable stories for Monday's US Wii Shop Channel update) of this topic and to post up friend codes here. Include a link to this topic to encourage them.

will do. This is def a game I wanna rock with some GN peeps

so, 1,000 points. Pretty much expected. I'm fine with it. No points of my back :) (see sig)

Pretty nice download week if you ask me: World Rally for $10 and Bomberman on DSi for 5 bucks, individual pieces of electroplankton for $2 each, some obscure VC games, and uh, 2 other largely forgettable wiiware releases (the only *sigh* on there). That dragon game, jesus that looks terrible. Sometimes I can't believe some of these titles get approved by NOA. All they do is clog up the pipeline. Honestly, who the f*%k is gonna buy that?! Frogger I could see making enough to break into the payout zone, on name recognition alone, but I would rather eat a dragon's s*#t than play that other one. Stickman Studios has to do SOMETHING to distinguish the game from a C-level PSOne game

Wow. Your FC is hard to find in this game. Not a good choice on Monster Games' part.

Anyway, just got it! Haven't even played it >.<, but here's my FC;

EDIT: I will be adding people that post their FC below me, but because of the way mods are, I'm not going to be posting everytime I do it. Maybe every three I add.

Wow. So much hate.
When I initially skimmed this topic earlier (to see if anyone had read my request) I thought you were talking about that Dragon game for DSi(Ware) and was going to say it wasn't all that bad from the demo, but you're speaking of yet another WiiWare title that came out of nowhere. The Nintendo Channel hasn't updated with videos yet, so I can't really judge this one, but nothing good has ever come out of a WiiWare game dropping without any prior press.

I hoping for reviews soon.
It'll need a 8/10 or more from 3 out 5(or so) reviewers. Also really need description of the track editor (If it's indepth and intutive I'll be happy if not both Indepth is wanted more)

Man. What was the thinking behind exchanging levels only with people on your -Wii's- Friend List? Free advertising?

Now I gotta get their Excitebike FC and their Wii FC.

EDIT: Oh. It seems you can select from your created levels during a vs. Friend match. Not as bad as it seemed.

DLed, planning on reviewing this week for you guys.
Honestly wasn't sure how much I'd like it since, honestly, I...really kinda disliked the original Excitebike. But I LOVED ExciteBots. So I figured it was a toss-up.
Only been playing for about an hour, want to try playing online with you guys.

Added my code to the list, also adding everyone here who has theirs.

Well, I would hope it takes you longer than a week to get tired of MW2.
But I also hope you download Excitebike:WR sooner than that.

Good. A review for a game I've already played means that I can get a better feel for how your tastes compare to mine. I PM'd you this already, but for everyone else, the IRC is a good place to get an Excitebike:WR match going with (new) friends.

im getting close to the point where I feel comfortable going online against you guys/random people. Been so long since I played the original, and I liked it. I'm liking this so far too. The new ways of cooling down your turbo meter (however illogical) are a welcome addition. Allows you to use the decoy racers as strategic tools rather than simply obstacles as they were in the NES game. The isometric view is sweet as well. You guys are using the 2-button w/tilt default, right? I got used to it very quickly and it feels fantastic.

EASY $10 purchase. I could see myself getting creative with this editor too. I added my code to the FC list on the site

@traviswiifan: It's up to four players.

@joeshabadoo: Added you. You shouldn't really be concerned about doing exceptionally in a game that doesn't rank you in some way. If I'm going to mess around or practice online, I usually just make another profile with a different (perhaps funny/aggravating/offensive) name.

i need to mention how much I like the music in this game. it's much more upbeat and has less buttery techno beats than the other Excite games. it sounds a lot like stuff that you'd hear in Mario Kart.

the online mode is simple and a lot of fun too. i've added all the codes in the bank and i'd lurve to play a few games with you guys.

the music is indeed retrofied and great.

holy hell is this game worth $10. Played for 3hrs tonight. Got all the S ranks which was more difficult than I was expecting. Kinda bummed there wasn't a cup after platinum, as the dudes at Monster usually throw that in after S'ing all tracks. The pro control is quite cool, but I don't see myself using it after hours of normal control (dpad steering w/tilt pitch).

Took it online after that with my Skull bike and dominated this room of 4 players 10 races in a row, all random track choice. Got the first online point bike unlock. The online is intense with formidable foes. You really need to use mind games with lane changing and try to use the side-swipe takedown/cooldown. A couple of the 10 races were kinda close down the line. We need to get some GN friend matches happening

much <3 to Monster games once again. They haven't failed to impress on the Wii yet, and deserve far more recognition/sales than they are getting. I could only picture a better Excitebike remake if it had online leaderboards for total online points/fastest times and local multiplayer. I'd pay 15 for a game with those thrown in.

Pro controls? o.o
Don't tell me about them (even though I'm really curious) cause I'll eventually get around to S ranking everything.

Have you guys been making tracks? I'm not usually one to use a level creation tool for anything more than seeing what crazy thing I can make, but a relatively simple game such as Excitebike doesn't really allow for crazy, so I've made a few serious tracks. For one of the tracks I made, I had the idea of setting up the course in such a way that the cool down arrows were placed just far enough apart that you could hold down the turbo the entire time. Unfortunately, it's very much an obstacle course and I only tested it inside the track creator, which means no CPU dummie cars were around; it's next to impossible with them around. I guess you'll only be able to play through it in the same way if it was sent to you (assuming you can edit received courses).

I'd really love to apply the "hold turbo" idea to another, less obstacle-y course.
